Crotchet downsides.
I have been making these ribbed beanies for a while now, and as crazy as it may sound, I hardly ever frogged any. About 20 recently. Today was a long hard day, spent at QMMH (Tsepong Hospital) and my spirit wasn't so great. Hospitals have their own aura I have concluded, however to get my mind off things I took out my hook and did what I do best in times of waiting. Hook.
Today, for the first time, I missed a stitch a few rows back, didn't even care to count how many. This is a few minutes work but I still feel bad. This took me back to someone (forgot username) who recently said that crotcheting goes beyond ordinary expression of art and the perimeters of discipline and creativity.
Crotcheting is spiritual, and for the person behind the hook, it embodies love and care, keeps mood in check and is a therapy session one has with themselves. It teaches patience in the most brutal way and illuminates how 1 tiny itsy bitsy thing like missing a single stitch could alter an entire project that took hours, weeks, sometimes even months to work on.
At some point I felt as if my hook could understand me and intentionally missed that stitch so I could pause, breath and sit with my emotions.
As I set this one aside for tomorrow I know I'll wake feeling better to finish it off. But stitch by stitch I hope crotchet continues to mend our heavy hearts.
