The Old Man by the River
In a small village nestled between two great mountains, there lived an old man named Kofi. Kofi had lived a long and fulfilling life, but as he grew older, he found himself alone and without a place to call his own. With no family to care for him, Kofi was forced to sleep alongside the river that flowed gently through the village.
Every night, Kofi would lay down on the riverbank, wrapping his worn blanket tightly around him. He would listen to the soothing sound of the water and watch the stars twinkling above. Despite his difficult circumstances, Kofi found peace by the river.
One evening, as Kofi was drifting off to sleep, he heard a faint cry for help. He sat up and looked around, but it was too dark to see anything. The cry came again, louder this time, and Kofi realized that someone was struggling in the river.
Without hesitation, Kofi jumped into the water, letting the current carry him towards the distressed person. He grabbed hold of a flailing arm and pulled the person to safety.
As they reached the riverbank, Kofi saw that it was a young woman, shivering with fear and cold. He wrapped his blanket around her and sat with her until she stopped trembling.
The next morning, the villagers found Kofi and the young woman by the river. They were amazed by Kofi's bravery and selflessness. The young woman, it turned out, was a traveler who had been swept away by the strong current.
The villagers, filled with gratitude and admiration for Kofi, decided to build him a small cottage by the river. From that day on, Kofi lived in the cottage, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the kindness of the villagers.
