It is a mistake to hand a manuscript to a printer without passing through a publisher who understands book making. The printer’s duty is to get the manuscript on paper at the cheapest cost so that he could make the most profit. After printing, he sends the books to the author and goes home with his profit. The result is that the cost of producing most books is too high to be sold in the bookstore. And the author is not an author until his books are sold in bookstores. The manuscript should first be handed to a publisher who has bookmaking skills. It is the place of the bookmaker to determine many factors to make book stand in face of other good literature in the market.
Again some who answer publishers are only printer consultants; they collect the manuscript and send it to the printer. This also increases the cost of production. He also drops the book at the home of the author.
