FOUR YEARS WITHOUT YOU, MY JAGI ๐๏ธ๐
Four years today, and somehow, the world has continued to moveโฆ but a part of me has remained in that moment when I lost you.
Babaniyi Dare, my Jagi, you were not just my husband. You were my safe place, my provider, my protector, my biggest comfort and the man who loved me so deeply that being your wife felt like being wrapped in a beautiful privilege.
You loved your children with everything in you. They were your world, and you were theirs. Sometimes I look at them and my heart breaks all over again because I know how much they miss you, even when they don't have the words to say it. I wish you could see the people they are becoming. I wish you could hear their laughter, correct them, spoil them, hold them and tell them again how much Daddy loves them.
When you left, you didn't only leave a wife and three children behind. You left a woman who had been pampered and protected by her husband, and suddenly had to learn how to become strong enough to provide, survive and keep going.
I have had to hustle. I have had to wipe my own tears and still show up for the children. I have had days when I wondered how I would do it. But somehow, God has kept us.
And Jagi, I must tell you this today: I am trying. I am doing my best to make sure your children are okay. I am building, working and pushing, even on the days when my heart is tired.
What hurts sometimes is seeing how quickly people forget. Some of the people who once surrounded you don't even remember to ask about you anymore, as though you never existed. But I refuse to let the world erase you.
You existed. You mattered. You loved. You were deeply loved. And you will forever be remembered.
Four years later, I still miss you. I still wish I could hear your voice. I still wish I could call you when life becomes overwhelming and simply say, โJagi, what do we do?โ
I miss the husband you were.
I miss the father you were.
I miss the life we had.
And I miss the future I thought we would have together.
Rest peacefully, Babaniyi Dare, my Jagi.
Your children and I will keep carrying your name with pride.
Four years gone, but never forgotten.
Until we meet again, my love. ๐๏ธโค๏ธ
