Rain: “Stay at home.” 🌧️
School: “Bring your children.” 🏫
Child: “Mummy, I’m not going today.” 😭
Mummy: “YOU ARE GOING!” 😂😂

Some children don reach school this morning, some dey house watching the rain like Netflix. 😅

But whether school catch them today or not, learning no suppose stop. ❤️📚

And to every teacher holding it down for our children — Happy International Teachers’ Day! 👩🏽‍🏫❤️

You people deserve serious flowers. 🌹

Because teaching 20–40 children at once is not small work ooo! 😅👏🏽

Today’s little reminder for parents:

School dey teach them, but home dey reinforce am.

Even on rainy mornings like this, give them something small to read, solve, build, match or play with.

No pressure.
No long lecture.
Just small-small learning.

Okay o… teach me.

Silence. 😭😂

Sometimes children know the answer but haven't fully understood the concept.

So instead of always testing them with:

“What's the answer?”

Try:

“Teach me.”

You'd be surprised what that little question reveals.

This weekend, pick one thing your child learnt this week and let them become the teacher.

No pressure.

No shouting.

Just learning. ❤️📚

But instead of fighting the energy, let's use it.

Ask your child five Nigeria questions today.

What do you love about Nigeria?
Name three Nigerian states.
Name three Nigerian foods.

Draw the Nigerian flag.

Then ask the big one:

If you were President for one day, what would you change?
Listen to their answer.

Ask them why.
Ask how they would do it.

Because sometimes learning doesn't need a classroom.
Sometimes it just needs one good question.

“I KNOW IT!” 😌

Mama: “Okay, explain it.”

Child: 👁️👄👁️

“Parents, sometimes that child isn't being stubborn or unserious. They may remember the answer without fully understanding the concept.

Ask them to teach you instead.

Their explanation can help you discover the gap — and help them build real confidence.”

Don't just ask your child if they understand. Ask them to teach YOU. 😂❤️

That simple switch can reveal so much about how they are learning.

“Mama, before you conclude that your child is lazy, check something.

Does the child understand what they are reading?

Is the work too difficult?

Are they distracted?
Or have they simply not learnt how to sustain attention yet?

Start small. Ten minutes. One short story. Ask questions. Let the child explain what they understood.

We are not raising children who only cram answers.

We want children who can read, understand, think and express themselves.

One skill at a time.”

Sometimes the issue is not “my child doesn't want to learn.”

Sometimes we need to find out what is making learning difficult.

Story Mama is taking parenting + learning one real-life issue at a time. ❤️📚

When they return from school:

Pick ONE short story/book.

⏰ 10 minutes only.

Minute 1–2: Let the child look at the pictures/title.

Minute 3–6: Read together.

Minute 7–8: Close the book.

Ask:

“Tell me three things you remember.”

Minute 9–10: Ask one thinking question:

“If you were the character, what would you do differently?”

For younger children, let them draw the answer.

For older children, let them explain it.

No shouting.

No rushing.

No “you don't know anything.”

Just conversation.

❤️ Story Mama reminder:

A child who struggles today is not a child who cannot learn.

Sometimes they need the lesson broken down differently.

CONSISTENCY > PERFECTION.
