Pastor Kumuyi asked: Why do couples who were in love during courtship suddenly think of separation weeks into marriage? 👀
He raised this question while speaking on “Fundamental Prevailing Peace in the Home of Christian Couples.”
One thing he emphasized was avoiding unnecessary arguments in the home.
For example, imagine a chair is placed somewhere and your husband says, “Please put it at the other end.”
Even if you think the other corner would be better, why turn it into an argument?
Sometimes, just move the chair. 😂
Not every disagreement needs to become a debate.
But before any husband goes home saying, “Shebi you heard what Pastor said?” 😭😂
Husbands, there's a responsibility for you too.
“Husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel…” — 1 Peter 3:7
Weaker doesn't mean weaker in knowledge or intelligence.
There are areas where women may be more emotionally vulnerable, and husbands must understand this.
So ask yourself:
“Is what I'm about to say going to hurt my wife, belittle her, provoke her or create unnecessary trouble?”
If it will, don't say it.
Sometimes we want to prove that we're wise:
“I'm wise. Let me teach my partner wisdom.” 😭
But if that “wisdom” will destroy the peace of your home, don't use it.
The wisdom that comes from above is “first pure, then peaceable…” — James 3:17.
In a Christian home, not every point has to be proved.
Not every disagreement has to be won.
Sometimes, peace is the greater wisdom.
