đ SERIES: The Girl Who Called at 2:13 AM
đŹ PART 3 â âSHE ALREADY KNOWS HIMâ
I didnât understand what I was looking at until the child turned her head.
Not slowly. Not confused.
Like she already knew exactly where to look.
And that alone made my chest tighten.
Because she wasnât looking at the rain.
She was looking at him.
Noah stood outside the car, frozen in the storm. The heavy rain hit his body, but he didnât move. It was like time itself stopped trying to protect him from what was happening inside that backseat.
And Elena⌠she noticed immediately.
Her hand moved first. Not angry. Not loud. Just protective.
She pulled the child slightly back, blocking the view.
âDonât look at him like that,â Elena whispered.
Not a warning.
Fear.
The child didnât react like a child should. No confusion. No questions. Just a steady stare through the rain-covered glass.
Then she whispered four words that changed everything:
âBut I know himâŚâ
Elena went still. Not because she didnât hear it. But because she did.
âNo,â Elena said quickly, her voice tight. âYou donât.â
But the child didnât look away.
Outside, under the flickering amber streetlight, Noah took a step forward without realizing it. Something deep inside him was pulling him closer.
Like that stare wasnât from a stranger⌠but from something he buried long ago.
The rain got heavier, blurring everything.
Noah pressed closer to the glass. And through the storm, he saw her lips move.
A whisper against the window:
âDaddyâŚâ
Everything inside him stopped.
Because that wasnât possible.
Not in the world he remembered.
Elena suddenly locked the doors. The sound clicked through the rain.
She held the child tighter, staring at Noah with terrified eyes.
She didnât just recognize himâŚ
She waited to see if he would recognize her too.
