Understanding The Right Emotion For Your Copy

People buy emotionally, not logically. In my years of writing copies, I have identified the importance of targeting the right emotions; both primary and secondary emotions.

One strong emotion is FEAR. With the use of factual statistics, you can heighten the dreadful realities your prospects will face sooner or later except they use your product or service.

Research and use verifiable facts and you'll have captured the attention of your target audience. And when you add real testimonials of satisfied clients in the copy, your prospects become eager for your call to action.

Fear works well in the health niche. Find the right emotion to target before writing a single word in your copy.

Life Is A Movie, Play Your Part!

One beautiful thing I like about Jesus’ teaching ministry is how he uses parables and simple stories to communicate deep mysteries. I shall try to deploy that technique here by telling you this simple story.

It was a very rainy day in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. And on such days, traffic moves from horrendous to demonic. Ade never knew it will be that terrible but when he realized he is fifteen minutes late already for the filming of a movie he has been casted to act in, he decided to take a bike. After much delay, he thought he has lost the opportunity to act alongside Rita Dominic; his favorite screen actress.

As he stepped into the location, drenched, he was stunned at the anger and frustration of everybody; especially the casting director who favored him with the one scene role. The Mega stars, crew and equipments were waiting for the common Ade! He was speechless and confused.

After much apology, camera rolled and he delivered nicely. What a day! But when he had a one on one with the casting director, he said:

“Mr. Fredrick, thank you for holding the slot for me. The traffic was hell… I thought they must have used someone else.”

“This is a standard production. You have been specially casted for the role because of your rare features. You were simply too irreplaceable under such short notice” Mr. Fredrick replied masterfully.

Ade pondered...

Life Is A Movie!

Life is a movie and you have been casted in this great story of God. You are not here by accident. And you’ve been casted for your life’s purpose because of your unique features. One of Ade’s unique features was that he limbs as he walks but speaks very polished British English.

The very way you are is an intentional act of God’s love. Your greatness is locked in your unique gifting. Nobody is like you. Only you can play your role in this movie called life.
