Part 2

Dearest God.........

So when Dave approached me, we talked about how serious and hardworking I was but ahhhh he doesn't know that nah condition wey make crayfish bend.
We vibed alot, he was fun to be with , at least for now.
I have never visited him and he has never visited me.
We started reading together and doing discussion after each study.
One day he asked me to follow him to another building during the night class, at first I refused but he said the place we were as noisy and we need a quiet environment to read, stupid and naive him, I followed him and when we got to the building, everywhere was dark.
He switched on his torch and we started reading, I started feeling sleepy and decided to sleep and I felt someone's hand under my skirt.
Ohhh at first I thought I was dreaming, but it continued, I quietly opened my eyes and boom I saw someone's hand raising my skirt quietly.
I stood up immediately and looked at him, I told him to stop and he stood up, grab me and forcefully k*ssed .
I pushed him away and ran out of the classroom .
I was breathing heavily. I never thought my first kiss would be like this.
I felt bad and hurt.
I went to the church and slept off.
The next day, as usual I woke up early, went to my uncompleted apartment, took my bath and rushed out to attend my morning lectures.
We both saw each other in the classroom and pretended nothing happened.
He waved at me and smiled and I waved back and faked a smile.
I told myself nothing will ever make me to be friends with me.
I felt I was already disv*rgined.
Innocent me , I cried terribly after the class, I blocked him and deleted his contact. He didn't even bother to ask why, he just moved on and so did I.
I focused on my academics and did so well in my exam.
After the Holiday, I came back as a year 2 student.
I got an apartment with a roommate.
And during my second year, I met another guy , a business man named Robert............

DEAREST GOD...........

Based on true life story.

PART 1

Year 1 in the university

I am the Faceless Writer and this is my journey. I gained admission into the university to study my desired course.
I was just 18 years .
I was on my way to church when my friends called me to check the portal and alias I have been given admission into the university.
I came back and told my parents about it. They were happy and we started preparation for my clearance and all.
The money for the clearance was much but my parents pulled through for me.
The only problem is that they couldn't afford accomodation fee and also pocket money.
They gave me 45k for accomodation and I pleaded with my friend to squat with her for the main time.
She agreed, she had a roommate and I promised not to discomfort them. I just dropped my properties in her room but I don't sleep there.
I always spend the night in the classroom where other students come to read.
I was doing my stuff, go back to her room by 6am and prepare for school, take my breakfast and pack my lunch and dinner, she wouldn't see me again until the next day.
It wasn't easy.
My parents would always call me and I will tell them am fine and doing so well. I grew thinner, lonely and sad but then I was contented.
One day, my friend asked me to leave because the school authority wants to go around the rooms for any illegal squatting and this was how I carried my loads and left.
I packed them inside an uncompleted building and was going to school from there.
I dare not tell anyone where I live.
I was so ashamed. I didn't bother telling my parents because my mom will go and collect loan and one of the loan shark was already disturbing my family.
One night during my usual night class, I met a boy called Dave....... Oh before I forget, I entered the university as a vi*gin...

chapter 5

THE END

Jane didn’t sleep
She lay on the edge of the bed staring at the ceiling while the man beside her breathed softly The room felt wrong Too quiet Too heavy Everything she had done sat on her chest like a weight she couldn’t push away
She checked her phone again Still nothing
No missed calls No angry messages Just silence
And somehow that silence hurt the most
By morning she knew she couldn’t keep pretending She couldn’t keep splitting herself into two people One who smiled at home and another who hid in shadows
When she got back to the apartment her boyfriend was already awake Sitting on the couch Waiting
You didn’t come home he said
Jane dropped her bag slowly Her hands were shaking She wanted to lie Just one last lie Something small Something easy
But she was tired
I cheated she said
The words felt sharp in her mouth
He didn’t move at first He just stared at her like she had said something in another language
With him he asked quietly
Jane nodded
The room filled with silence again Thick and painful
Why he asked Not angry Just broken
Jane swallowed hard Because I felt alone Because I stopped feeling seen Because I didn’t know how to tell you I was fading
His voice cracked I was right here
I know she said tears rolling down her face That’s the worst part
He looked away Wiped his face Took a long breath
I would have listened he said I would have tried
Jane nodded again I know But by the time I realized that I had already made my choice
She packed slowly Not because she wanted to leave But because staying meant living in the lie forever
At the door she stopped Turned back one last time
I’m sorry she said
He didn’t answer
Outside the air felt cold Honest Real
As Jane walked away she understood something clearly
Cheating doesn’t start in bed
It starts when two people stop talking
When silence becomes safer than truth
And sometimes the hardest lesson is realizing you should have spoken before it was too late.

CHAPTER 4

Jane told herself she would stop.
That morning she ignored his messages. She focused on work errands anything to stay busy. She wanted to feel normal again.
By evening her resolve was already weak.
He called.
Just see me he said Let’s talk.
She hesitated then said yes.
They met at his place. Nothing fancy. Just quiet. They sat on opposite ends of the couch talking about small things that didn’t matter.
Then he moved closer.
Jane felt her heart race. She knew this moment. She had imagined it feared it wanted it.
This isn’t right she said softly.
I know he replied But it feels honest.
That was all it took.
The kiss was slow and careful like both of them were afraid of what it meant. Jane pulled back for a second guilt crashing over her.
Then she kissed him again.
Later she lay beside him staring at the ceiling feeling relief and fear at the same time. She hadn’t just crossed a line.
She had erased it.
Her phone buzzed on the table. A message from her boyfriend.
Where are you
Jane turned the phone face down.
For the first time she didn’t answer.

Chapter 3
Jane stood in front of the mirror longer than usual.
She wasn’t dressing up for anything special. At least, that’s what she told herself. But she changed her top twice and adjusted her hair like someone who cared too much.
“Where are you going?” he asked from the bed.
“Out,” she said quickly. “Just to clear my head.”
He didn’t look up. “Okay.”
That was it. No questions. No concern.
Jane swallowed.
Outside, the air felt lighter. Her phone buzzed again.
Are you coming?
She typed back, Yes.
They met in his car. She told herself she would just talk. Nothing else. Just talk. That’s how it always started.
The conversation flowed easily. Too easily. He made her laugh. He made her forget the guilt sitting quietly at the back of her mind.
Then he asked, “Does he know?”
Jane shook her head. “No.”
The word came out so smoothly it scared her.
No.
That was the lie.
When he reached for her hand this time, she didn’t pull away. She let it rest there. Warm. Familiar. Wrong.
Her phone rang. Her boyfriend.
She watched it ring.
Once.
Twice.
Then it stopped.
Silence filled the car.
Jane exhaled slowly.
She hadn’t kissed him. She hadn’t crossed that line yet. But she knew something had changed.
She had lied.
And lying was easier than she expected.

CHAPTER 2

Jane woke up tired.
Not the kind of tired sleep fixes but the kind that sits in your chest and refuses to leave. She lay in bed staring at the ceiling while he slept beside her, his back turned, breathing slow and steady.
She watched him for a moment and wondered when they stopped talking like this. When silence became normal.
Her phone vibrated.
She froze.
She knew who it was before she even picked it up.
Good morning, Jane. Did you sleep well?
She closed her eyes. Her heart beat faster than it should have. She told herself not to reply. Just leave it. Put the phone down. Be a good person today.
But her fingers moved anyway.
Not really.
That was all it took.
The conversation flowed easily,no effort, no forcing words. He asked how her night was. He remembered things. Small things. Things her boyfriend used to remember but didn’t anymore.
She smiled without meaning to.
At breakfast, her boyfriend talked about work. She nodded at the right moments, answered when necessary. Her phone sat beside her plate, silent now, but loud in her mind.
“Are you okay?” he asked suddenly.
Jane hesitated. “Yeah. Just tired.”
He nodded and went back to his phone.
That hurt more than she expected.
Later that day, she met the other man for coffee. Just coffee. That’s what she told herself while choosing what to wear. Nothing fancy. Nothing suspicious.
They laughed. They talked. Time moved too fast.
At one point, he looked at her and said, “You don’t look happy.”
Jane opened her mouth to deny it. The lie was ready.
But instead, she shrugged. “I don’t know anymore.”
He didn’t judge her. He didn’t rush her. He just listened.
When their hands brushed across the table, neither of them pulled away.
That was the moment Jane knew.
She hadn’t crossed the line yet but she was standing right at the edge.
And deep down, she wasn’t sure she wanted to step back.

WHY SHE CHEATED

Chapter 1

Jane sat on the couch, rain tapping against the window like it was laughing at her. She hugged her coffee cup tight, staring at the blank TV screen. Nothing felt right anymore. The apartment was too quiet. Too still.
She had been with him for three years. Three years of dinners, work, sleep, repeat. She loved him oh she really did. But love had started to feel unsafe. Predictable. Like she was living someone else’s life.
Her phone buzzed. She looked down. A message from someone else. Just a friend, she told herself. Someone who listened when no one else did. Someone who made her laugh, made her feel awake again.
It started small. A joke here, a shared smile there. Nothing serious. But slowly, it became the part of her day she looked forward to most. She didn’t plan it. She didn’t want it. But it felt good. Real. Alive.
The door clicked. He was home, her husband. Jane quickly put the phone down and smoothed her hair. “Hey,” she said, forcing a smile. He kissed her cheek, humming a tune she barely recognized anymore, and went to the kitchen.
Jane’s chest ached. She loved him. She truly did. But she couldn’t stop thinking about the messages, the laughs, the way someone else made her feel.
She whispered to herself, barely audible over the rain:
“I didn’t cheat… I just forgot how to stay.”
Tomorrow, she would have to decide. But tonight, she let herself feel alive again.
