Nobody hands you a manual when you move into your first place. 🏠

You spend weeks picking the couch, the rug, the perfect plant for the corner. Then week one hits and suddenly you own six half-used cleaning sprays, your "storage space" has vanished, and you're somehow the household handyman now.

We asked our community what they wish someone had told them before moving day. The answers were brutally relatable, swipe through for all 4 hard truths nobody warns you about (and the one thing that actually fixes them) β†’

Here's what we keep hearing, though: it was never about buying more stuff. It's about owning the right stuff the few things that quietly solve problems instead of piling up as more clutter.

That's the entire reason Perpetual Home Essentials exists. We got tired of buying things that didn't actually work, so we started only stocking the ones that do.

So tell us what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before you moved into your first place? Serious or hilarious, we want to hear it. πŸ‘‡

You think moving into your first place is all about buying furniture... until you actually move in. πŸ˜‚πŸ

Then suddenly you're asking yourself: "Why do I have so many cleaning products?" "Where did all my storage space go?" "Why do I need a screwdriver every other day?"

The little everyday frustrations always seem to catch people by surprise.

That's why we believe it's not about buying more thingsβ€”it's about choosing the right home essentials that actually make daily life easier.

Swipe through and see if any of these hard truths sound familiar. πŸ‘€

Now it's your turn...

Be honest which stage are you stuck on right now? πŸ˜…

We've all lived Stage 1 through 4. But Stage 5 is the one that actually changes things: the problem was never how hard you're cleaning. It's whether you've got the right tool, in the right spot, used consistently.

That's it. That's the whole system.

πŸ‘‡ Drop your stage in the comments ,no judgment, we've been Stage 4 too.

Show me your kitchen counter and I'll tell you what's missing. πŸ‘€

Not judging β€” promise. Every kitchen has that one gap: either too many gadgets doing one job each, or one big gap where a proper multi-function appliance should be.

Drop a photo in the comments (or just describe your setup) and we'll genuinely tell you what we'd add, swap, or ditch. We'd rather help you fix the actual problem than just tell you to buy something.

This is also just us getting to know this community better β€” we're new here and want this page to feel like a place people check in on, not just another store.

Follow us β€” we reply to every comment on posts like this, and there's more of these coming.

Which one drives you crazier? πŸ‘‡

A) A kitchen counter covered in five different single-use gadgets you barely use
B) Appliances that break down or underperform within a year of buying them

Both are the kind of thing that quietly makes cooking more stressful than it needs to be and honestly, most of the time it comes down to buying the wrong equipment in the first place, not you doing anything wrong.

Vote A or B in the comments and tell us why. We might turn the most relatable answer into next week's post.

Follow along β€” we're doing more of these to figure out what's actually frustrating everyone in the kitchen.

You just found out the thing you've been doing wrong your whole life... has a name. πŸ˜…

You know that moment when you're trying to cook something "healthier," end up deep-frying it in oil anyway because the air fryer you bought doesn't actually crisp anything properly and you're back to square one, dishes piling up, kitchen smelling like a chip shop?

Here's the thing: most of us aren't bad at cooking. We're just working with underpowered equipment that promises a lot and delivers soggy fries.

That's actually why our 3-in-1 Multi-Function Air Fryer exists. Real crisping power, actually cooks in the time it says, and does more than one job so it earns its counter space. Once you use one that actually works, you'll wonder why you put up with the other one for so long.

Tell us: what's the one kitchen gadget you regret buying? Drop it below β€” we're collecting these. πŸ‘‡

πŸ”₯ Nobody warns you how much oil splatters until you're scrubbing your gas cooker for the THIRD time this week 😩

You cook a simple stew, turn around for two minutes, and somehow there's oil on the wall, oil on the k***s, oil in places oil has no business being. Then you're stuck with a scrub brush and Vim at 9pm, arms aching, wondering why nobody taught you this in "home management" class.

Here's what changed things for me: instead of fighting the mess AFTER it happens, stop it from happening in the first place. A simple silicone stove-top mat sits right under your burners β€” oil splatters land on it, not your cooker β€” and when you're done, you just lift it, rinse it, and it's spotless in seconds. No more scraping, no more soaking, no more losing your Saturday to a gas cooker.

It's such a small thing, but it's saved me hours (and my sanity) every single week.

What's the one kitchen mess that NEVER seems to end for you - oil stains, burnt pots, or something else? Tell me below πŸ‘‡

Is your bedroom chair now your "second wardrobe"? πŸ˜…

Be honest how many clothes are currently sitting on a chair, on your bed, or hanging off your door because your closet is too full or too far?

We get it. Sometimes you just want your outfit for tomorrow, your bag, and your shoes all in ONE place not scattered across three different corners of the room.

That's the whole idea behind this Open Garment Rack with Shoe Shelf.

Picture this: your jackets, sweaters, and dresses hanging neatly on top... your bag hooked on the side... and your shoes lined up underneath. Everything you need to get dressed, right there, in one glance. No searching, no wrinkled clothes, no morning stress.

It's sturdy enough to hold a full wardrobe's worth of clothes, but it still looks clean and stylish enough to sit in your bedroom or hallway without looking bulky. Perfect if you're in a small apartment, a room without much closet space, or you just love the "everything visible" way of organizing.

Honestly, once you see your clothes displayed like this instead of hidden away, you start dressing better too. πŸ‘€

Would this fix your "chair full of clothes" problem? Tell us in the comments πŸ‘‡ or send us a DM if you want more details we're happy to chat!

πŸ”₯ My neighbor almost didn't believe me when I told her this...

Last week, my tomatoes went soft in just 2 days after buying them at the market. I was so vexed because that's money down the drain and you know how tomatoes aren't exactly "cheap-cheap" these days 😩

So I asked my aunty (the one whose kitchen always looks like a Pinterest board πŸ˜‚) how her vegetables last almost 2 weeks without spoiling. She laughed and said, "Perpetual, it's not magic, it's how you store them."

HERE IS WHAT SHE TAUGHT ME:
πŸ… Never wash tomatoes/pepper before storing β€” wash only what you're using that day

πŸ§… Onions and garlic should NEVER be in the fridge β€” keep them somewhere dry and airy

πŸ₯¬ Leafy vegetables last longer wrapped in a dry paper towel before bagging

I tried it… and guess what? My tomatoes lasted 9 days! 😱

The real game-changer though? Getting proper airtight storage containers so nothing gets exposed to air or moisture. That's honestly what took my kitchen organization from "market don rob me" to "I dey save money now" πŸ’°

So tell me , what's the ONE food item that spoils faster in your kitchen than you'd like? Let's compare notes in the comments πŸ‘‡
