I remember the first time I truly understood that autism is not a “one way” experience… it was a journey of unlearning and relearning.
As someone who works closely with children on the spectrum, I’ve seen it all—children who will look you straight in the eye and others who communicate love without a single glance. I’ve met children who crave connection in their own beautiful way, and others who find comfort in their quiet space. Some express overwhelm through tears, others through silence, and some through sounds that carry emotions words cannot explain.
This picture right here says it perfectly—autism is a spectrum. Not a box. Not a label. Not something you can define in one sentence.
Every child I work with has taught me something powerful: difference is not deficiency. Their world may look different, but it is rich, expressive, and deeply meaningful. You just have to be patient enough to understand it.
So when you meet a child on the spectrum, don’t rush to “fix” them. Pause. Observe. Learn. Connect. Because behind every behavior is a story, a need, and a voice waiting to be understood.
And for me, being part of that journey is not just work—it’s purpose 💙
