tablescaping shouldn’t be complicated. there’s a few things you need to create an atmosphere, or tell a story.
- napkins - even if your table has nothing on it, it should have napkins!
- candle holders - different textures tell a different story. ceramic, glass, brass, antique. all different vibes.
- napkin rings - to help you with funky napkin folds and adding a little personality
- taper candles - in lots of different shapes, sizes and colours. you will use these more than you initially think. not only for decor but mood and ambience in the evenings
- ribbon bows - tie them on your candles, around your cutlery, on the stem of your glass. minimum effort, maximum impact
- flowers - pick them from your garden, get them at your grocery shop, or go to the florist for in season gorgeousness. always the prettiest thing at the table
- glassware - can be coloured, textured, mixed and matched - all tells a story and sets the scene
- cutlery - bamboo, ceramic, gold, silver - tie it into your theme
- plates - mix and match patterns, florals, stripes, hand painted, colours - the most unusual combo is usually the best combo
- placemats - adds visual delight and cohesiveness
- a clean foundation to your table - a wooden table, a patterned tablecloth, a plain tablecloth, a clean marble. whatever it is, it’s part of the story so choose it well
