Bergamot brings the bright citrus lift. Vanilla rounds it out so it stays warm instead of sharp. Together they're that golden-hour-morning kind of summer.

For an electric diffuser it's the simplest thing: water to the line, then 8 drops bergamot and 4 drops vanilla. That's a 2:1 ratio, so scale it up or down to your tank and your nose.

And the best part love this scent? It travels. The same two oils carry straight into reeds or a room spray later. One blend, your method.

Nobody tells you how many candles you'll ruin before one actually works.

The first batches come out rough for weeks. Cracked tops, sunken centers, scent so faint you start wondering if you did something wrong. Usually it's the same few things: pouring too hot, adding too much oil, lighting them before they've cured. Every fail in this carousel is one most makers hit early on.

None of it means you're bad at this. It means you're learning the feel of the craft, the part no recipe really teaches you.

More fragrance oil doesn't always make a stronger candle.

It can do the opposite.

Most candle makers get their best results around 6–10% fragrance load, but your wax decides the real limit. Go beyond what it can hold and you may see sweating, poor hot throw, uneven burns, or flame issues.

A simple 7% formula looks like this:

350g total batch × 0.07 = 24.5g fragrance oil

So you use:
325.5g wax
24.5g fragrance oil

And for EU makers: your UFI code doesn't depend on fragrance percentage alone. It only applies if the finished candle classifies as hazardous, so always check your fragrance oil SDS.

The best candle isn't the one with the most oil.

It's the one your wax can hold, burn, and throw beautifully.

Scent strong at first, then fading halfway down?

Your fragrance oil might not be blended evenly into the wax.

Try this on your next pour: add fragrance oil around 85°C as a starting point, but always follow the guide for your specific wax.

Then stir gently for 2 full minutes. Not a quick swirl.

That small step can help create a more even scent throw from top to bottom.
