Abdul Halim Attar, a Palestinian-Syrian refugee living in Lebanon, was struggling to support his family when he was photographed selling pens on the streets of Beirut. As he walked through the city trying to earn money, his young daughter Reem slept on his shoulder, completely worn out. The emotional moment showed a father doing everything he could to care for his child despite difficult circumstances.

The powerful photo was taken by Icelandic web developer Gissur Simonarson, who later shared it on Twitter. The image quickly spread across social media and touched people around the world. Many viewers were deeply moved by the sight of a devoted father working tirelessly while carrying his sleeping daughter. The photo became a symbol of the daily struggles faced by refugees and parents trying to survive.

As the post gained attention, Simonarson began receiving messages from people who wanted to help Attar and his family. Determined to turn compassion into action, he worked with local journalists, activists, and residents in Beirut to find Attar. Within a short time, a fundraising campaign was created to support the family.

The response was overwhelming. Donations poured in from around the world, showing how social media can bring people together and create real change when empathy and kindness are shared widely.
