"In an attempt to preserve his family heirloom, he applied for a Heirloom Endorsement, investing time, money, and effort into meeting all compliance requirements, including upgrading his firearm storage to meet the strictest security standards. The topic of primers comes up in conversation quite often on our tech line. Primers are extremely sensitive and should always be handled with care. Primers should be handled individually with adequate safeguards, and always kept in the original containers to prevent accidental detonation. Because primers are subject to shaking/vibration/jolting, small particles of the priming compound may become separated - commonly called “dusting”. The accumulation of primer dust in primer feeds on machine surfaces in loading areas can be extremely dangerous. These areas must be kept very clean.

What is your favorite primer to use for handloading?

** Tech Tuesday **

When calculating a fire solution, how much does +/-15 fps of Muzzle Velocity error affect the hit percentage? Depends on the size target you're shooting at.

For a 308 Wi******er shooting 175-grain SMKs at a full IPSC silhouette in a high-confidence environment, you're looking at 87% for centered (no MV error) vs. 84% uncentered (-15 fps MV error). But for a 10" circle, it's 40% vs. 19%. When the game is hit or miss, errors only matter in relation to target size. Know how sensitive your fire solution is to input errors, and work to understand and minimize those errors.

That's how you hit targets.
