5 DAYS TO GO and finally after 3+ years i can finally say; “IT’S DONE/ KUA OTI!”

All the Tribal Guitars are complete and ready to reveal. I know you’ve already seen my mahi to date but you haven’t seen the last 2 completed guitars.

Arohamai whanau, the launch is an invite only event but i have 5 tickets left for anyone (and their +1) to come. BUT… you have to answer this question;

‘What are the names of all 5 TRIBAL GUITARS?’

PM me Hirini Tukaki your answer and I’ll hook you up with free tickets. The first 5 correct answers takes the prize and that’s us baby, PARTY’S ON!!! LESHGO…

And look who’s coming to the party; Tama the tuakana. He will help usher his 5 teina into Te Ao Marama. Thank you Vicki Gallagher for loaning Tama back for this kaupapa.

And if you think it’s going to be 5 guitars standing there and me saying, ‘TADAHH!’ then think again. Zoom in on the poster and you’ll see the launch is going to be a spectacular journey of sight and sound.

With performances from Marcus Winter The Sandman and Rikki Solomon telling the stories of each Atua. Then followed by a stacked lineup of monster guitar players; Jimi Kara Harlem Mckenzie Shane Pahi and the iconic Chub Renata. I’ll be putting 2 cents into the mix as well, anei te korero; “E rima nga taonga puoro, e rima nga tohunga puoro, kotahi te po ahurei” (5 Prized instruments, 5 skilled musicians, 1 exceptional evening)

Can’t wait, it’s going to be AWESOME! Here’s a few teaser photos to get you as excited as we are…

These are the dense-poly test blanks created from the 3D scanned CAD files and cut out with CNC routing.

I know a couple of local craftsmen and guitar builders that are fluent in this high-tech application; Wiremu Bariball, Dave Jones, Andries Vorster…

I’m still learning as I go but I’m fortunate to have some experts in these departments to help me get to this stage; Craig from 3D Hub and Geoff from 3D Worx

Hoping to have all 5 Tribal Guitars CNC bodies completed for the next week’s launch. Not long to go now…

Very fortunate to have the bro Wiremu Bariball from Katchafire play Tiki, one of the guitars from the Tribal Guitars collection a few weeks ago. He normally plays PRS but graciously allowed Tiki to take the spotlight.

Tiki’s dimensions and setup draw heavily from the IBANEZ JEM which I’ve loved for decades. It’s the first time I’ve seen Tiki under black light, making the DiMarzio Pickups Flouro Green Evo’s pop and glow in the dark.

They look amazing, they sound amazing and they compliment the Tiki guitar beautifully. Thank you bro Wiremu, you blew me away bro.

The 7-ply necks ready for the next builds. Beautiful exotic timbers from around the world to compliment the native NZ timber bodies;

American Oak, Indian Rosewood, Purple Heart, White Ash, Canadian Maple
And topped with Indian Ebony finger boards with Mother of Pearl inlays.

The 5-ply necks I made previously were nice but these are a definite step up.

Haven’t posted on my business page for a while, seems easier to post on my personal page Hirini Tukaki yeah I know I need to keep business and family life seperate so this is me doing just that…

These are the rotating pedestals I made for the Tribal Guitars Product Launch. Once again I’m not a professional but I developed an idea in my head and then went about trying to make it happen and make it work.

These are the results, and yes, they work

I’ve had this one finished for a while but had to redo some of the finishing work. A real labour of love to get this across the line and even now I hear the EMG James Hetfield active pickups aren’t firing at 100%.

I’ll recheck the connections for phase cancelation but nevertheless, here is the first recording of the latest addition to the Tribal Guitars family

Please welcome Hinenui Te Po. Played by yours truly Hirini Tukaki

And yes, it’s my turn

The bro Dixon Nacey giving the Manaia carved guitar a run for his money. Beautiful playing on this stunning instrument

The Maestro Dixon Nacey in the Tribal Guitars headquarters trialing the Tiki carved guitar. Rock and/ or jazz, the guitars are holding their own as these monster musicians put them through their paces.
Thank you brother
