In a work meeting yesterday, a colleague was telling us about a recent talk she’d been to by University of Canterbury researcher Dr Jack Auty.
His research looks at microplastics, inflammation and brain health, including the possible links with Alzheimer’s and dementia. There’s still a lot researchers are learning about what long-term microplastic exposure actually means for human health.
One thing that stuck with me was just how many everyday sources of microplastics there are. Things you might not immediately think about.
Like your takeaway coffee cup, linings in tin cans...
I thought about that conversation again when I headed out for my walk this morning, coffee in hand.
Lucky I’m a potter.
I can make my own ceramic takeaway cup. 🌊💚
