Hei Matau Kōkopu - Greenstone Fishhook Pendant
https://shortlink.store/l4ozjaqvfafc

The treasures and vital sustenance of Tangaroa, kaitiaki (protector) of the ocean, required our tūpuna (ancestors) to be expert mariners. The lines and curves of the matau (fishhook) not only represent abundance and prosperity but also safe passage across life's journeys, echoing the voyages undertaken by those who first explored and settled Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa - the vast Pacific.

This hei matau was carved by Jeremy Walsh from Kōkopu pounamu sourced from Big Bay of Te Wai Pounamu, Aotearoa. It measures 47mm by 28mm, has a semi-gloss finish, and is bound with an adjustable hand-braided cord.

Rei P**a Parāoa - S***m Whale Tooth Pendant
https://shortlink.store/3zftguld9asr

Often considered descendants of Tangaroa, whales are highly regarded tūpuna (ancestors) symbolizing abundance and strength. Rei p**a parāoa (s***m whale tooth pendants) are highly prized for their rarity and were often worn by rangatira (chiefs, respected leaders) leading to the saying “He rei ngā, he parāoa ngā kauae.” - If you have a s***m whale's teeth, you must have a s***m whale's jaw to carry them.

This rei niho parāoa was carved in our Kirikiriroa workshop by Alex Sands from a single s***m whale tooth and measures 11cm tall by 4cm wide. The front of the tooth is polished to a semi-gloss finish engraved with natural edge, with the back half being kept in its natural state.

***N.B: We are unable to ship Whalebone items outside of NZ***

Patu Maire - Native Timber Club
https://shortlink.store/i3eu1vc1mtzc

Identical in form to mere pounamu, patu are short striking weapons made used by both men and women during oratory and warfare. Used in short quick motions, they could be augmented with a longer string wrapped around the hand to create a close-range projectile. In today’s world, their use is largely ceremonial with orators wielding patu in their left hand, adding weight to their words.

These patu were carved by Steven Fehoko from black maire sourced from central Waikato of Te Ika-a-Māui, Aotearoa. They measure approximately 360mm by 90mm, have a semi-polished finish, and is bound with an hand-braided cord.

Note: This listing is for a single patu maire. Please get in contact if a specific one is desired, otherwise one will be chosen at random from our collection.
