Ever wondered why power pack rangehoods come in weird sizes like 53cm and 79cm? 🤔

Here's the answer!

We actually make them slightly smaller than standard cupboard sizes on purpose. A 53cm rangehood is designed to fit perfectly inside a standard 60cm cupboard, and a 79cm rangehood sits neatly inside a standard 90cm cupboard.

Why? So the rangehood can be perfectly centred in the cupboard, giving you a clean, built-in look with no awkward gaps or overhangs. ✨

It's one of those details that's easy to overlook — but get it wrong and it shows. Get it right and it looks like it was always meant to be there.

To baffle or not to baffle — that is the question. 🤔

Ever noticed that some rangehoods have baffle filters and others have mesh filters? There's actually a big difference between the two, and we think baffle wins every time. Here's why 👇

A baffle filter is made up of a series of closely spaced metal plates bent into a continuous zigzag pattern. Air is forced through this tortuous path, and as it twists and turns, grease and oil particles are trapped against the metal surfaces — without any fine mesh or porous netting involved at all.

Why is that better?

✅ Easier to clean — the metal plates can go straight in the dishwasher

✅ More durable — no mesh to clog, warp or deteriorate over time

✅ Better airflow — the open channel design doesn't restrict extraction like a clogged mesh can

✅ More efficient grease capture — the zigzag path is surprisingly effective at catching grease before it reaches your motor

Mesh filters do the job, but over time they clog up, reduce airflow and become a real chore to maintain.

Baffle filters are simply the smarter, longer-lasting choice for any serious kitchen. 🙌

One of our team came up with that description for the Illumahood — and honestly, it's perfect.
