🎨🐾 **Calling All Artists, Makers & Cat Lovers!** 🐾🎨

**Lawrence Creative Arts** is delighted to be planning **Clutha Cats**, a community fundraising exhibition at **The Junction Tuapeka**, and we're inviting local artists, makers and creatives to be part of this special event.

The exhibition will celebrate local creativity while raising funds to support the incredible work of **Clutha Cats**, who help desex rural and feral cats, rescue and rehome kittens, support foster carers, and promote responsible cat ownership throughout our district.

**Did you know?** A single undesexed female cat and her offspring can potentially produce **hundreds of kittens** over her lifetime. By supporting desexing programmes, we can help prevent unwanted litters before they're born, improving the welfare of cats and reducing the number of animals needing rescue.

We're aiming to **open the exhibition on Saturday, 26 September**, with **all artwork and handmade items to be delivered to The Junction Tuapeka by Sunday, 20 September**, allowing time for installation.

Whether you're a painter, photographer, potter, fibre artist, woodworker, jeweller, or simply love creating, we'd love to hear from you. Cat-themed works are encouraged, but all creative interpretations are welcome.

**Artists are invited to contribute work to the exhibition, with 50% of each sale donated directly to Clutha Cats and the remaining 50% returned to the artist.** This generous contribution will help fund the rescue, desexing and rehoming of cats and kittens throughout the Clutha district.

Alongside the exhibition we're hoping to include:
🐾 Cat toy-making workshops
🐾 A pet food and supplies donation station
🐾 Information about the work of Clutha Cats
🐾 Family-friendly activities
🐾 A community cat photo display
🐾 And a few more fun surprises!

If you're interested in exhibiting your work, donating an item, running a workshop, or helping in any way, we'd love to hear from you.

**Together, let's celebrate local creativity while making a real difference for the cats of Cluthaβ€”one artwork, one donation, and one rescued cat at a time.** 🐈❀️

Orange fur in cats 🐱🧑 is linked to a gene carried on the X chromosome 🧬. Male cats have only one X chromosome, so if they inherit the orange gene, they will usually be entirely orange 🐈🟠.

Female cats have two X chromosomes, meaning they can carry both orange and black genes at the same time 🧬🟠⚫. This combination creates mixed coat patterns like tortoiseshell or calico cats 🐱🎨, where patches of orange and black appear together.

Because of this genetic difference, most orange cats are male πŸˆβ€β¬›βž‘οΈπŸˆ, while most tortoiseshell and calico cats are female πŸ±β™€οΈβœ¨.
