24-Hour Blokart Sailing Record Shattered!

During the North American Blokart Nationals at Ivanpah Dry Lake, New Zealand’s Allister S***k set his sights on breaking the 24-hour distance record—if the conditions were right.

On March 31st, with near-perfect weather, Allister launched his attempt at 7:45 AM, supported by his fellow Kiwi, Eamon McRobbie. The goal? To surpass the standing record of 589.18 km (366.1 miles), set by BB Hredocik at Loring Airbase, Maine.

By the 12-hour mark, Allister had already covered an astonishing 500 km (300+ miles), and with the winds holding steady, he remained on track for success. However, the night brought challenges, including an unexpected collision with a pole—one of the few obstacles on the vast 34-square-kilometer lake! The impact left him with a bent fork but didn’t deter his determination.

After an incredible 16 hours on the course, Allister officially broke the 24-hour record, reaching an astonishing 648 km (402.6 miles)!

With the goal achieved and a demanding week of racing ahead, he made the strategic decision to retire for the night. The next morning, greeted by howling winds, he knew he had made the right call. Absolutely stoked!
