The dreaded Gibson headstock break, this one got the full works to get it back to good as / better than new. I’ve been reinforcing breaks with fillets on either side of the truss rod for years, I find it a good method which works well but I have seen the inserts creep over time or heat/humidty. I decided I wanted this one bulletproof, so if it drops again it will most likely just bounce. This one has been reinforced with 6mm solid carbon fibre rods, some from the truss rod access cavity and two run the full length of the headstock trough to around 2nd fret. It’s super solid now! Refinished neck in Black Nitrocellulose, ready for more rocking!

Just finished this one up for Ash Sales, his main axe for his solo work, frets needed replacement and the board needed some levelling due to a rising tongue, playing like a dream now

60 year refresh and refret for this Horner Club 50 1961

Had this super cool 1961 Hofner Club 50 on the bench this week, refretted the neck with some serious levelling out due to a back bow, restored the electrics, fitted a new bridge and set up, sounds and plays great now ready for another 60 odd years.

Had this lovely sounding Maton 808 in for some fret levelling and dressing, such great sounding guitars and now it plays well too.

I’ve had this lovely 90s Gibson Hummingbird on the bench recently, Danni Davis from NZ band In the Shallows had we wee accident while on tour and the result was a broken headstock! It’s back to its former glory and playing great now. In the Shallows

Trying something…… 1972 Gibson J45, a soft plastic harmonica case was in the case with this old girl for many years, burning into the nitro in numerous places, not the top thank goodness! I have some nitro left in an old can that has already lost a lot of solvent, after wiping it down clean I’ve dobbed some clear on top, then cut it back, so far (the last two pics are of a small patch I’ve polished up) it looks really good, will see if the fill sinks as more solvent gases out, that’s why I try on my guitars first 😊
