Something to be aware…
If you are coming into New Zealand as a visitor you must ensure you have an NZeTA BEFORE you travel!

Please make sure you use the official INZ government website or Mobile app if you are applying under the NZeTA’s system.

Since the introduction of the NZeTA, a number of unauthorised third party websites have been overcharging travellers for NZeTA’s and in some cases, acting fraudulently by not supplying NZeTA’s and keeping the fees.
Other countries who offer online travel authorities such as the USA, Canada and Australia, suffer a similar experience and a number of steps have been taken by INZ to reduce the impact of these unauthorised providers.

Protect yourselves and only use the official portal............if you need any guidance simply ask us!

Changes to the Parent Resident Visa ⁠— applications reopen in 2020

From February 2020 you can apply for a Parent Resident Visa again, although there will be changes to the criteria you need to meet.
The visa is changing and limiting the number of people who can get the visa each year to 1000 changing the financial requirements that sponsors and applicants need to meet, and changing the 2-tier system to a single system.

Changes to financial requirements

The visa will reopen with new financial requirements that applicants and sponsors must meet.
Applicants will no longer have the option to apply based on their settlement funds or a guaranteed lifetime income.
The income levels that sponsors need to meet will increase.
Sponsors will also need to meet the income criteria for 2 out of the 3 years before their parents applied for residence, and
provide evidence of their annual income by providing Inland Revenue tax statements.

New income levels for sponsors

INZ will update the income levels for sponsors each year based on the New Zealand median income.

The current median income is NZD $53,040.
Expected income levels for 2020

If your sponsorship is based on your personal income, you will need to earn before tax:

NZD $106,080 to sponsor 1 parent
NZD $159,120 to sponsor 2 parents.

If you are using both you and your partner's income, you will need to earn between you:

NZD $159,120 to sponsor 1 parent
NZD $212,160 to sponsor 2 parents.

Recent Work Immigration Policy changes:

From 7 October:
Accredited Employers must pay $79,560 per annum for the migrant to qualify for a Work to Residence Visa. This is an increase from $55,000 per annum.
Minimum pay rate for a Work to Residence will be reviewed annually
Employers applying for first time Accreditation or to renew will only be issued accreditation valid for a maximum period of 24 months.
Anyone already holding Work to Residence Visa or who applied before 7 October 2019 for a Work to Residence Visa based on $55,000 will not be affected and can still apply for residence after 24 months of employment with an accredited employer.

Other changes from 2020:
Six categories for temporary work visa pathways are being replaced with one. Immigration will assess job offers based on pay rates. Jobs paying less than the median wage $25 per hour, will be categorised as “low skilled”. Jobs above the median wage will be regarded as “high skilled”. Low skilled will receive 12-month work visa. High skilled could receive up to 3-year visa.
Low skilled workers now permitted to bring their partner and children to NZ, the partner is issued a visitor visa (no work rights). Total period low skilled migrants may stay 3 years and must leave NZ for 12 months.
Changes 2021:
All employers wanting to recruit migrants or already employ migrants must become accredited
