Love remains, even when the body has departed.

Today I’m holding two things close to my heart the hope of getting well, and the memory of my Nan on her birthday. ❤️

Some people leave this world, but they never leave the places they helped shape within us.

On your birthday, Nan, we remember your love, your lessons, your laughter and all the little pieces of you that still live on through us.

As I work towards getting well, I’m reminded that healing isn’t just about the body. It’s also about the heart, the mind, and finding strength in those who came before us.

Hari ake te hauora. 🌿

🌿 Whakataukī Sunday 🌿

“He waka eke noa.”
We are all in this together.

The marae is more than a place.
It is where our people gather, where stories are shared, where our tūpuna are remembered, and where the next generation learns who they are.

Through the generations, the marae remains a place of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and belonging.

No matter how far we travel, there is something about coming home to the marae that reminds us where we come from. ❤️

Ko wai au? Ko wai tātou?
We know who we are because we know where we come from.

🌿 Whakataukī Sunday 🌿

“He māhana te whenua, he māhana te ngākau.”
When the land is warm, the heart is warm.

Cold mornings. Cold nights. ❄️
But here in the village, the whenua is always breathing steam rising from the earth, warming the air and reminding us that beneath the chill, there is always warmth. ♨️

There’s something special about waking up to the mist and steam, watching Papatūānuku breathe while the rest of the world is still waking.
