The first two in The Faithful and the Fallen series, and we're talking ancient prophecies, warring kingdoms, giants, betrayal and a whole cast of characters scattered across the Banished Lands as everything slowly starts going to s**t.

Basically, proper chunky epic fantasy where you settle in knowing you're going to be here for a while ๐Ÿ˜…

Are you doing anything suitably bookish to celebrate today? I'm currently curled up in front of the fire with my beta read, listening to the rain outside and making damn sure I get my money's worth from both the mortgage AND the power bill ๐Ÿ˜‚

Books have always been one of my favourite ways to connect, whether it's finding yourself amongst fictional characters or finding your kind of people in the social halls. I just don't think you can beat a crispy paperback and having like-minded people to yap about it with๐Ÿซ€

I have absolutely no idea where this year has gone!

Usually my monthly TBR is wildly optimistic and completely ignores the fact that I have the attention span of someone who spots another pretty book - or hobby - halfway through the first one and never returns ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™Š

So this month we're trying something different; A few hopefuls, a few books I'm actually committing to (shout-out to my beta read for Gina Elizabeth which is soooo good so far!), and a couple of little reminders to slow down and enjoy the book I'm reading instead of constantly stressing about keeping up with bookstagram's pace.

We'll see if I stick to it... but at the very least, Future Me can't claim we didn't try ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™ƒ

A grumpy, overprotective celestial warrior with a jaw that ticks when she pi**es him off? Say less. In a world where angels and demons walk among us, every human is either celestial-blessed or demon-marked - but our FMC? She's both. And nobody knows what that means. She was supposed to be claimed by a demon when she got her powers (contractual fine print that her mama missed - whoops), but instead, she gets celestial powers and is whisked away to Fallen Academy before the underworld can collect their prize.

Enter her trainer: the elite, deadly, broody-but-lowkey-obsessed-with-her MMC. He's her mentor. He doesn't like her (or so he claims), but he's ready to throw hands with literal demons the second she's in danger. The slow-burn, will-they-won't-they tension? Delicious. The banter? A+. He's fighting his attraction every step of the way, jaw ticking, arms crossed, yet somehow always in her orbit.

This isn't an action-packed book, but it is a fast-paced, super readable fantasy academia story with celestial lore, training montages, and a broody, overprotective MMC who would absolutely burn the world down for her (even if he won't admit it yet).

If you liked Fourth Wing but wanted less dragons, more angels & demons, and a mentor who is way too invested in his student's safety, this one's for you.
