The orokaiva coffee growers co-operative society LTD is a historical society group which was established in the 1950s by Mr Mick belfield when he was posted to the northern district as an agriculture extension officer , while serving in the northern district he co-operated and initiated the orokaiva coffee growers co-operative society LTD with a local man Mr Lucas kerari sariembo from the hurita village.Mr Belfield taught the local orokaivan people the importance of agriculture and introduced the coffee and started the nursery and gave away seeds to the local people to plant them, after few years the locals started harvesting the coffee and Mr Mick and Mr Lucas exported to lae morobe province.the business grew bigger and they bought shares and invested into bigger business and managed very well under Mr Mick's supervision and they registered the group with the co-operative societies and that was during preindependence time.after Mr Mick left northern district to Mt Hagen Mr Lucas managed the co-operative as advised by Mr Mick.In1976 Mr Lucas died and Mr Frank sanata took over the management in 1978 and mismanaged the co-operative and it broke.several people started it's subsidiary and registered under the IPA.the Oro ombei LTD and orokaiva resource.when the national government introduced the IPA as business registration authority and in the process the government held the preindependence co-operative societies under IPA until 2020 Tuesday September 15th they handed the ownership back to the co-operative societies and than the co-operative societies handed the ownership to the current management under Mr paiwa and Mr komota.and the proof of service has been issued to those who registered under IPA that they are no longer the directors of ocgcsl as of the date of the proof of service....
