Would you risk to annotate your books? This idea may sparks some argument but would dare to you annotate yours? Now, let's talk about this matter.
Annotated books are like personalized artifacts that reflect that would reflect their unique understanding of the book and makes reading more engaging. It helps with book discussions, annotated books can be helpful for book club discussions or group reading projects as it will provide a shared point of reference that can facilitate more meaningful and productive conversations about the book. Esquire Magazine posted an article that talked about why time-worn annotated books are the NEW PRISTINE. It is the charm of reading someone else's thoughts about a certain book.
Creating a color-coded system with sticky tabs is one of the most commonly used techniques by book annotators. This involves assigning a specific color of tab to different categories or emotions the reader wishes to mark, such as sad moments, memorable dialogues or ideas they have yet to understand. This results in a colorful display of tabs at the edge of their books, which book lovers take pleasure in seeing.
While annotating books can be a helpful practice, there are several reasons why some people may not enjoy it or even hate it:
1. It can feel like a chore: For some people, annotating a book can feel like a chore that would takes away the enjoyment of reading. They may find it tedious or time-consuming and would rather focus on simply enjoying the story.
2. Fear of damaging the book: Some readers may be hesitant to annotate their books because they don't want to damage the pages or cover. This is especially true for book collectors or people who like to keep their books in pristine condition.
3. They prefer to read passively: Some readers prefer to read passively without actively engaging with the text. They may prefer to read for pleasure or entertainment and find that annotating the book distracts from that experience.
