๐ŸŒฑ Tree Planting with UCCP-CCNK ๐ŸŒฑ

On September 5, LCDFI joined a tree planting activity organized by the Capitol Church Nursery Kindergarten of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP-CCNK)!

The event was held in Camansi, City of San Fernando, in celebration of UCCP-CCNK's 100th anniversary. Despite the rainy weather, around 40 participants โ€” including children and their parents โ€” came together to plant about 100 cacao and cashew trees.

We hope that as these trees grow, they will grow alongside the children. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

On July 16, LCDFI supported a tree-planting activity at Sta. Cruz Elementary School.

The activity was held as part of Nutrition Month. LCDFI provided the school with 105 seedlings, including cacao, cashew, and jackfruit.

LCDFI has also launched the "Learners Growing with the Trees for Climate Change Mitigation" initiative, which encourages children to grow fruit trees at home to foster greater awareness of the environment and the importance of plants. As part of this initiative, seedlings were also distributed to the school's PTA members.

We hope that this tree-planting activity will contribute to a greener and healthier environment for Sta. Cruz Elementary School and everyone in its community.๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

On July 9, LCDFI welcomed two staff members from JICA for a site visit.

During their visit, they toured our nursery facility and purchased seedlings and tablea.

Through JICAโ€™s Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) Program, LCDFI is supported by Japanese volunteer staff who contribute to our community development initiatives.

LCDFI looks forward to continuing to work with various partners to advance our projects and create a greater impact together.

๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿซ World Chocolate Day Tree Planting ๐Ÿซ๐ŸŒฑ

To celebrate World Chocolate Day on July 7, LCDFI joined a tree-planting activity organized by the DTI La Union Provincial Office.

The event was held at the Queen of Peace Priory in Nagtagaan, Rosario, La Union. Around 50 participants, including representatives from DTI, Barangay Nagtagaan, and Benedictine sisters, planted 120 cacao seedlings together.

LCDFI provided the cacao seedlings used for the activity. After the tree planting, we also conducted a short training session on proper cacao cultivation and management.

As global demand for chocolate continues to grow, we hope these cacao trees will thrive and contribute to making La Union one of the leading chocolate-producing provinces in the Philippines in the future. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿซ

On July 6, LCDFI launched a new initiative in cooperation with Mabanengbeng Elementary School to engage the next generation in environmental conservation.

The project, "Youth Growing with the Trees: for Climate Change Mitigation," aims to help children and their families learn about environmental protection and fruit tree cultivation through hands-on experience in growing seedlings.

As part of the project, LCDFI donated approximately 260 seedlings, including cacao, to the school. During the launching activity, the seedlings were distributed to parents, who, together with their children, will nurture and monitor their growth at home.

LCDFI will continue to monitor the progress of the project and hopes to expand this initiative to more communities in the future.

Together, we are growing not only trees, but also a greener and more sustainable future for the next generation. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

On July 5, LCDFI joined a tree-planting activity organized by Barangay Sto. Rosario, San Juan.
Around 100 cacao seedlings were planted on the grounds of Sto. Rosario Elementary School. These seedlings were provided by LCDFI.

To protect the young cacao trees from being eaten by goats and other animals, each seedling was carefully enclosed with a bamboo fence.

We hope this tree-planting activity will help make the environment in Sto. Rosario greener and healthier for future generations. Thank you to everyone who took part in making this activity a success! ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š
