Hmmm… I wonder how I should proceed with this bag. 🤔😅

I wanted it to be a bit small, but spacious pa rin enough to carry my essentials.

It’s 8 x 5 x 3 inches, with lining and a zipper, plus short straps… although I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to make the straps. 😂

The nice thing is, I already know how to sew the lining and attach the zipper, so this project is literally two hobbies in one! 🧶🧵❤️

This is the fun part of making something from scratch. You have an idea in your head, start working on it… and sometimes you figure out the rest along the way. 😅

My dear friends and family,

Due to what seems to be Meta’s new algorithm, the reach of my page, Hooked on Yarns, has been significantly reduced.

Some of you have even confirmed that although you’re already following the page, you’re not seeing my posts on your feed. And because you’re not seeing them, you’re not able to like, comment, or share them. That naturally leads to less interaction, which then seems to result in even less reach.

Kaya nga nabawasan ang interaction kasi binawasan ang reach, tapos babawasan pa rin nila ang reach ng page. 🤦‍♀️😂

And at the same time, Meta keeps suggesting that I boost my page or posts through paid advertising to reach more people.

I understand that this is part of how the platform works, but as a small handmade business, I simply can't afford to spend money on advertising right now.

So I’m asking for a little help from the people who support Hooked on Yarns. ❤️

Here’s another first for me! 🥰🧶
I made this crochet bag using flat nylon yarn, and I’m really loving it! It’s a great alternative to cotton yarn because it’s durable, lightweight, and gives the bag a nice structure.

Another first: I used my sewing machine to attach the lining and zipper to the bag! 🧵🪡 Slowly but surely, I’m learning to make my crochet projects even more polished. 😁

I’ve already made Rumi, Jinu, and Bobby for this client before, and now the cast is almost complete! 😍

Why almost? Because my favorite character, Derpy, is still missing. 😅😂

In case you didn’t know, I named my sewing machine Derpy. 😁🧵 So technically, he’s part of the Hooked on Yarns family too! 😂

Now I’m wondering… should Derpy get his own amigurumi version? 🤔🤣

Expectation vs. Reality

One of the biggest challenges of accepting custom crochet orders today is when a client sends an AI-generated photo as a reference.

The client isn't at fault. Most people simply can't tell whether a crochet photo is AI-generated or made by a real person. That's where the responsibility falls on us, the crocheters.

Whenever this happens, I always explain that the finished piece shouldn't be expected to look exactly like the reference photo. AI images often ignore the limitations of real yarn, stitches, construction, and even gravity. They can create beautiful ideas, but not always realistic ones.

What's even more concerning is that AI-generated crochet images are now appearing on platforms like Etsy, where crocheters have long gone to buy patterns. Someone purchases a pattern expecting to recreate the beautiful item shown in the listing, only to discover that the instructions contain errors, don't make sense, or produce something that doesn't even remotely resemble the advertised photo.

AI can be a wonderful tool for inspiration, but it can also create unrealistic expectations and disappointment for both clients and makers.

Behind every real crochet piece are hours of planning, stitching, frogging, and problem-solving. Real handmade work may not be perfect, but that's exactly what makes it genuine.
