Months ago, this photograph came to ๐๐ช๐ซ๐ช & ๐๐ฐ. as part of a very different moment.
It was a portrait of a young man who had just reached an important milestone in his life. A proud graduation. A motherโs happiness. A family celebrating a son who had completed one chapter and was about to begin another.
At that time, this was simply a photograph meant to preserve a beautiful moment. Today, looking at this same photograph feels completely different.
And sadly, the young man in this photograph will no longer get to see what the next chapters of his life could have looked like.
As a community, we are deeply saddened by what happened. It is heartbreaking to see how quickly a night that was supposed to be about celebration and youth could turn into something so tragic.
I am not writing this as a small business owner whose customer happened to be his mom. I am not writing this today simply as a family friend. I am writing this as a mother of a young boy, too.
Because when you are a parent, you look at a young person differently. You donโt only see the teenager in front of you.
You see someoneโs son.
Someoneโs child.
Someoneโs pride.
Someoneโs future.
You imagine the birthdays he would still have.
The graduations still waiting for him.
The dreams he had yet to discover.
The mistakes he had yet to make, the lessons he had yet to learn, and the person he had yet to become.
Being a โteenโ is simply too young for a life to end.
And perhaps this is also a moment for all of us to pauseโnot to point fingers, not to spread anger, and not to make assumptions about things we may not fully know. But to remind our young people of something important:
Violence is never cool.
Getting into trouble is never a measure of courage.
Carrying anger is not strength.
And walking away is never weakness.
One moment. One decision. One confrontation. One attempt to prove something.
Sometimes, a few seconds can change the rest of someoneโs life. And the consequences donโt stop with the people involved. They reach families, friends, communities, and mothers or even fathers who are left asking the question no parent should ever have to ask: โWhy did it have to be my child?โ
We cannot keep our children inside forever. We want them to grow, experience life, make friends, celebrate, laugh, and enjoy their youth.
But while we give them freedom, may we also teach them responsibility, restraint, discernment, and the courage to walk away when something is no longer right.

And to Bugoyโs family, especially his mother, ๐๐ช๐ซ๐ช & ๐๐ฐ. extends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.
I can only imagine how different this photograph must feel to you now. Months ago, it was a picture of a proud mother celebrating her sonโs achievement. Today, it is a reminder of a young life that was here, was loved, had dreams, and should have had so much more time.
๐๐ข๐บ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ข๐บ๐ฐ ๐ฌ๐ข, ๐๐ถ๐จ๐ฐ๐บ.
You were supposed to be looking forward to your future. You were supposed to have more chapters.

And may your passing remind all of usโespecially the young ones who still have their whole lives ahead of themโthat life is precious, and no moment of anger, pride, or recklessness is ever worth losing it.
