After 60 days of Ube propagation experiment, halos lahat ng seedlings ay tumubo na and ready to transplant na sa farm.

I tried grouping ube tuber in different cut sizes, merong 50-70g, 30-40g at 15-25g ang pinaka maliit.

In average, I got 30 seedlings per kilo of ube.

Sinadya ko talaga na i group according to weight para malaman kung ilang percentage ng emergence per group.

Gusto ko din malaman kung ano ang survival rate if maliit na masyado ang ube sett.

Out of 235 total ube setts, 3 lang ang di tumubo in 60 days. And 1 lang ang namatay from 15-25g group.

That means, mabubuhay pa din ang ube kahit 15-25g lang ang cutting as long as may skin lng na kasama.

That means, we can make 50 seedlings per kilo.

To my fellow farmers, why stick with traditional 10 seedlings per kilo if you can make it 50?

The solution to ube supply shortage may already be in front of us.

Ito yung ube na tinesting namin ipasok sa box for 1 week para ma try if mag survive ba sila sa shipment.
Ang 2nd test is tinaggal namin ang mga lupa na nasa ugat, hinugasan then trimmed the sprouts. Nag iwan lang ng isang node then binalot ng paper bag bago pinasok ulit sa box.
After 1 week, i was expecting na mamamatay na ang mga seedlings but as you can see, buhay na buhay pa din sila.
I think kaya matibay ang ube kahit walang lupa kasi yung tuber/miniset mismo ang naging pagkain nila.

We put ube seedlings sa box for 1 week para ma test if mabubuhay ba talaga ang ube if binunot sa lupa at pinadala sa courier.
