Hello friends! Lately I have been posting bows a lot which I am very enthusiastic about. Here's a new post for violin. This violin came to our shop with no varnish at all. It came also with a thick top plate and a bass bar that does not fit well. A lot of the glues were expired also thats why our team decided to reglue most of the parts. It came with a very thick fingerboard also thats why it was tremendously heavy from the start. After all of the work was done., it came out very beautiful. The varnish that the client chose is a golden brown varnish but the lighting doesn't give it justice. I was skeptical about the sound it will produce but at the end it produced a rich round and robust lower register with sweet high notes. Overall we are very happy at the final product.

Made a new bow this week which is a great way to end the week! This bow is 73cm long and weighs at 61g. A little longer than the standard violin bow. This is a bow made for a friend that wants to use the bow on a viola and a violin. It is made from Yakal wood native in the Philippines. For more info on bowmaking and instrument restorations, please feel free to DM me.

A colleague recently reached out to me regarding a violin bow with a fractured tip, which had suffered a clean break after being dropped onto its point. Fortunately, the apex remained intact. We employed the widely utilized 'Spline method' by inserting a piece of wood to rectify the damage. The wood insert has to be strong withstand the pulling tension of the hair. Here we can see a successful tip repair without compromising the aesthetic appearance of the bow . Although the bow's value has depreciated significantly, it has been successfully restored to its former functionality.

Just want to share. This is one of the bows that I made. Really satisfying to see a finished work. The stick is made with beechwood. With the endangerment of Pernambuco wood an alternative is needed to keep the music playing.

Traditionally, beechwood is used on earlier bows same as snakewood. I picked this wood because it is available here in the Philippine Market.

This bow is lighter than the usual modern bow. Weighing at 54g, it gives clear and pronounced spicatto.

If you want to try this bow you can visit my shop here in proj 8 Lutheria Garcia.
