“More than a Tip”
A few months ago, we had a simple staycation with our family at a hotel. While waiting in the lobby, we met an elderly man we called “Tatay.” At first, we were hesitant to talk to him. But little by little, we saw how kind and genuine he was. He even helped us during check-in and accompanied us all the way to our room.
As a small gesture of gratitude, we offered him a little amount of money before he left. But before he could walk away, my husband gently asked, “Tay, can I pray for you?”
He paused… then smiled softly — the kind of smile that looked like his heart had been waiting for that exact moment.
Right there in the hallway, my husband prayed for him. A simple prayer. Nothing grand. But when the prayer ended, Tatay’s eyes were filled with tears. He quietly said, “Thank you, Pastor.”
That moment stayed in my heart.
Sometimes we think prayer is small. We think people only need money, help, or advice. But there are people silently carrying burdens they never speak about. And sometimes, one sincere prayer can touch a heart more deeply than we realize.
Never underestimate the power of whispering a prayer for someone. You may not know it, but your prayer could be the very thing they were asking God for that day. 🤍
