LONG POST AHEAD
First time playing Pokemon TCG Great Ball League was not bad. Made some mistakes and had a few misplays that led to my two losses.
1st lose - energy management
I am ahead in the prize race but unfortunately I don’t have the energies anymore to attack.😭
2nd lose - I am so bricked and goes 2nd so I have to use secret box early and just use Lillie’s. NAMALIKMATA AKO GUYS, AKALA KO LILLIES NAKUHA KO GLADION PALA HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
It’s touch move so yup, I ended up getting swept by alakazam.
Last game, I encountered a situation where I have to discard TOOL SCRAPER to use gladion. In my memory on the TCG LIVE I thought I can just fail the TOOL scraper so I said to my opponent “Alam ko pwede to I fail sa Live, alam ko gumagana siya” so I suggest and we decided to call the judges. Judges said I can fail it cause they said I can choose 0-2.
I genuinely don’t know because I don’t play much, I just tried to remember that I was able to fail it or I just play it and it automatically discarded 1 so it look’s like on my memory that I can just use it and fail it. Or something like when you can fail an ultra ball and just press “confirm” then not get any pokemon. Something like that mechanic.
So I failed the tool scraper and used gladion and took the win.
The next day, I played again at the hobby stadium and the guy I played with last game confronted me with his Judge friend saying that he tried the tool scraper immediately in the TCG Live and the tool can’t be failed.
He said I lied. So I said I’m genuinely not sure that’s why we called the judges. He said the issue is I lied and how come I don’t know when it’s on my deck.
In my defense, I am not an addicted person who always plays TCG. Also I am just new on Pokemon TCG.
I said that I only stated my “Opinion” that I think I know that I can fail it on live. I did not say it’s a fact that’s why we called the judges.
His judge friend said he’s player friend is a lawyer and the player said that I said a “fact” statement. And he will mark me.
I don’t know what to say anymore so I said I was wrong.
I admit I was wrong and I don’t have any intention to cheat or something. I just want to let them know that I genuinely don’t know.
They said it’s alright because their intention was just to clarify.
Then all of a sudden my sight just blurred and i cried. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
I just did not expect something like this will happen to me in a TCG league event.
My opponent and his judge friend tried to calm me me down (and I appreciate that) saying that their intention was not to harm but just to clarify so that I’ll know next games that tool scraper can’t be failed.
We ended the conversation at least with a good resolve. And we went to our assigned tables for the games.
Sooooo yeah, fu***ng tool scraper made my day awful.
I wasn’t thinking clearly throughout all the games. It affected me heavily I can’t play properly. I wasn’t thinking.
I came across with the guy again and he said his sorry. I said it’s okay since nobody wanted that to happen or sh*ts happen.
He ended up giving me his GBL Stamped promo card. I said I’m too shy to accept it but he insisted. I appreciate that.
SOOOO YEAHHH, my first GBL experience was so memorable HAHAHAH.
I really wanted to win so bad that day but my mental state was so down, I can’t even play my own deck.
It was so down I forgot to use “Boom boom groove for 4 rounds” just because I am item locked.
On my next game I used secret box and get the brave bangle instead of balloon and that cost me the game. Clearly the choice would be the balloon. I wasn’t thinking.
That’s when I realize my mind was fu**ed up that day.
I decided to just go home with a 2-2 standing because I can’t play anymore.
It’s sad.🥲
To the guy, my opponent. Thanks again! Sorry again if ever it’s my fault.
Now, I just want to win a league so bad because of this hahaha.
