From hive box delivery to installation, stingless bees (Meliponiculture) have officially arrived at Brightwoods School to show our students firsthand how these tiny pollinators sustain whole ecosystems.

Unloading the Hive Boxes: Welcoming our newest ecosystem champions to campus.

Choosing the Location: Finding the perfect natural spot for the bees to thrive.

Final Installation: Setting up the home (Meliponary) where students will observe biodiversity in action.

Thankful for new learning opportunities that connect our students directly with nature.

Unlike a healthy hive with firm, organized cerumen (wax), the internal structure in these photos appears "melted" or collapsed. The maggot activity breaks down the pots, causing honey and fermented pollen to leak and pool at the bottom of the hive.

The art of the honey super. 🍯 By placing a divider with a small bypass hole between the main hive and this new chamber, we encourage the bees to build their honey pots separate from the brood. This makes for a cleaner harvest and a much happier colony.
