Day 127 of 365
Unforgiveness steals your precious time with your loved ones.
During my papa’s wake, I saw many people weeping and experiencing deep sorrow over his loss. As I spoke with most of them and read their posts online, I realized that people mourn for two reasons: first, for the memories they shared; and second, for the things left undone or unsaid—regrets and guilt.
Unforgiveness creates a barrier between us and our loved ones. It restrains us from showing our love and care. We hold back our affection, our kind words, and our forgiveness—waiting for the “right time” or for the other person to change first. But often, that right time never comes.
Our time is precious and limited. None of us knows when a loved one will be taken from us, same with our own lives. When that day comes, the unforgiveness we held onto no longer hurts them—it only haunts us.
Do not wait until a wake to say, " I'm sorry", “I love you” or “I forgive you.” Let go of small hurts before they grow into walls. Love now. Forgive now—while there is still time.
Ephesians 4:31–32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
