Setting up a new HID FARGO HDP5000e? Follow these simple steps for a smooth installation.

𝟭. 𝗨𝗻𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿

𝟮. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻 & 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺

𝟯. 𝗟𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀
Load the appropriate PVC cards into the input hopper and adjust the card guides.

𝟰. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿
Connect the power cable and switch ON the printer. Do not connect the USB cable to the PC at this stage.

𝟱. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿

Open Printer Properties / Printing Preferences and select the required:

• Card layout: Portrait or Landscape
• Printing: Single-Sided or Dual-Sided
• Card size/type
• Ribbon type and other required settings

𝟳. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱
Print a test/sample card to confirm that the printer is installed correctly and the print quality is satisfactory.

Whenever you install or sell a brand-new FARGO Card Printer, please make sure you complete the following steps before using or handing it over to the customer:

✅ 1. Install the latest printer driver
Download it from: www.hidglobal.com/drivers
✅ 2. Check and update the printer firmware
Visit www.hidglobal.com to verify if a newer firmware version is available. If the printer has an older firmware installed, please update it.
✅ 3. Calibrate the Ribbon & Film Sensors
Before starting any printing, perform Ribbon & Film Calibration from the Printer Driver Properties.

Why are these steps important?

The firmware installed in the printer is the version available at the time it was manufactured. HID regularly releases new firmware updates to improve printer performance, enhance compatibility, and resolve known issues. Following the above steps helps ensure smooth installation and reliable printer operation from day one.

Please make these checks a standard part of every new FARGO printer installation.
