گھر میں حسبِ معمول ہلچل تھی… مگر اس بار وہ سب کچھ پہلے سے زیادہ اسمارٹ طریقے سے کر رہی تھی۔
بچوں کے عید کے کپڑے استری ہو کر تیار،
زیورات اور چوڑیاں سیٹ،
جوتے اپنی جگہ،
اور کچن کی تیاری بھی مکمل۔
آہستہ آہستہ گھر میں خاموشی اتر آئی۔
سب سو چکے تھے…
اور رات کی وہ خاموش گھڑی آخر اس کی اپنی تھی۔
وہ مسکرائی…
اور Mehak-e-Henna کے اسٹینسلز نکالے۔
چند لمحوں میں مہندی کی باریک لکیریں اس کے ہاتھوں پر ایسے اترنے لگیں جیسے پھول کھل رہے ہوں۔
ہر ڈیزائن اتنا نفیس، اتنا فِلاولیس… کہ دل خود بخود خوشی سے بھرنے لگا۔
وہ اپنے ہاتھوں کو دیکھ کر سوچنے لگی —
کل جب عید کی صبح آئے گی…
یہی مہندی، یہی چوڑیاں، یہی زیورات… اور عید کا جوڑا…
سب مل کر اس کے انداز کو سب سے دلکش بنا دیں گے۔
اور اس لمحے اسے احساس ہوا —
خوبصورتی صرف وقت ملنے سے نہیں آتی…
کبھی کبھی بس تھوڑی سی اسمارٹ پلاننگ سے بھی آتی ہے

ہر سال چاند رات آتی تھی… اور چلی جاتی تھی۔
گھر میں خوشیوں کی رونق ہوتی، بچوں کے کپڑے، شوہر کی تیاری، کچن کی مصروفیات، مہمانوں کا خیال… سب کچھ وقت پر ہو جاتا تھا۔
بس ایک چیز رہ جاتی تھی — اس کے اپنے ہاتھ۔
ہر بار وہ سوچتی،
“اس بار اپنے ہاتھوں پر بھی مہندی لگا لوں گی…”
مگر ذمہ داریوں کی فہرست اتنی لمبی ہوتی کہ جب تک سب کام ختم ہوتے، رات گزر چکی ہوتی… اور اس کے ہاتھ پھر خالی کے خالی رہ جاتے۔
لیکن اس سال اس نے سوچا —
نہیں… اس بار چاند رات میری بھی ہوگی۔
اس نے پہلے ہی Mehak-e-Henna کے خوبصورت اسٹینسلز منگوا لیے۔
