Today I want to talk about imposter syndrome.
For the past three years, I’ve been designing Creative Resets, mostly on the go.
Learning from teams, communities, what I see in the room, what people are experiencing, what my intuition tells me is working, what is not, reading a lot, connecting with incredible people in Portugal and around the world, and slowly shaping every session from there.
But there has always been this little voice at the back of my head.
Daniela... you studied Oil Engineering!!!
You never went to school for this, and to be very honest... that’s been hard sometimes.
I’ve built my Creative Resets around things I’m genuinely passionate about: play, connection, creativity, and over time I’ve started bringing in art therapy exercises because I’ve seen how much they help people reconnect, explore, and simply be.
Last week I went to Barcelona to do an introduction to Art Therapy, because I’m considering doing the diploma and I wanted a stronger foundation, partly because I wanted to know...
Am I actually doing this right?
I came back with something I wasn’t expecting.
Reassurance💜
Nothing felt far away from what I’ve already been doing, and actually, many moments made me think... Oh... that’s why I do that.
It was such a grounding and confident feeling.
I still have so much to learn, but for the first time in a long time I stopped questioning whether I belonged here.
I find it crazy how our brains can make us doubt ourselves simply because we didn’t follow the traditional path.
Meanwhile, people leave my Creative Reset sessions saying things like,
this is exactly what I needed, or I forgot what it felt like to play.
Maybe I need to trust that a little more.
I met so many beautiful humans last week. I played, I learned, I came home even more curious. I left Barcelona with new ideas, new tools, a lot of questions... and a little less doubt than I arrived with.
Has your brain ever convinced you that you weren’t qualified, even when reality kept proving otherwise?
Please share in the comments.
Ps: I also made them some arepas from 🇻🇪 which as you can see there was not time for a photo😬
