The Paige Mack 🖤

I’ve been making hoods. Hoods that have thus far been inspired by a particular person or a particular need. Hoods that you can put over the top of anything. Hoods made out of recycled fabric. Hoods that are one of a kind.

This is the Paige Mack hood. Inspired by the little Burtonesque wonder that she is. Paige is a DJ and the hood has holes in the top to accommodate her headphone accessories.

The truth is, I haven’t felt as creatively driven as I have this past year, since settling in Golden Bay. Maybe it’s the space, maybe it’s the time, maybe it’s the creative community around me… Maybe it’s a bit of all of the above. It’s manifested itself mostly in drawing, sewing and carving.

Lost wax casting is an ancient technique of jewellery making that I was introduced to by a colleague in Wellington who made his own rings. He kindly brought his whole kit into work one day to show me what one would need to get started, and that was exactly what I did.

This Ankh ring has been carved out of wax and is off to be cast in Sterling Silver.
