Laura:
Thank you for your time and the second interview. Please give us the backstory about how and when your band was established.

Methane:
My brother Dylan and I (Tim) had been talking about destroying stages together for years. After jamming on and off back in the States, I moved to Sweden. In 2012, he finally followed me over, and we decided it was time to stop talking and start the war. I called Jimi, who was as sick of the death metal scene as I was. He jumped in without hesitation, and from that moment Methane was born to f**k s**t up.

Laura:
How would you describe your music-making process?

Methane:
We don’t sit around politely sharing ideas. Someone comes in with a riff that sounds dangerous, and we attack it together. Riffs get thrown down, torn apart, sped up, and beaten until they sound evil enough. I write the lyrics once the music has drawn blood. Every song is a fight, and that’s exactly how we like it.

Laura:
Do you have a favorite song you like to perform the most?

Methane:
Right now, nothing beats playing "I F**k for Beer" live. The crowd loses their minds and turns into animals. But I also live for playing "Thin the Herd," when the floor turns into a war zone and bodies start flying. That’s what I live for.

Laura:
Can you please spill some behind-the-scenes details about how you prepare for shows?

Methane:
We don’t do any of that fancy pre-show bulls**t. We show up, load our gear in, do a quick soundcheck, then we go creeping around whatever town we’re in, grab some food, soak up the atmosphere, and then come back ready to burn the place down.

Laura:
Why call the band Methane?

Methane:
We were sitting around trying to come up with a name that didn’t suck. We wanted something that sounded nasty, heavy, and a little dangerous. Someone threw out the word Methane and it just stuck. We knew right away that was the one. It sounds toxic and explosive, exactly like our music.

Laura:
What genre of music do you consider Methane to be?

Methane:
We started as a groove metal band, but that didn’t last long. Deep down, both me and Jimi have always been thrash and New York hardcore kids at heart. So we slowly started speeding everything up, making it meaner and more aggressive. After years of lineup changes, it’s really just the two of us originals left, and now the music finally sounds like what we always wanted it to sound like. Fast, heavy, and over the edge.

Laura:
What should fans expect to experience at a show?

At a Methane show you can expect total f**king chaos. We come to play loud, fast, and aggressive, and we expect the crowd to match that energy. There will be mosh pits, stage diving, sing-alongs, and a lot of beer flying around. We don’t do chill shows. If you’re coming to see us, come ready to lose your voice and your mind.

Laura:
Who has influenced you the most via music?

Methane:
I grew up in Northern California in the 80s when the thrash scene was exploding. Then I moved to New York as a teenager and got pulled into the birth of the death metal scene there. Since then, I’ve been through the South Florida metal scene and the Swedish death metal scene. All those different scenes and all those different people have left their mark on me. Some good, some bad.

Laura :
How can fans and future fans locate, listen to and buy your music?

Methane:
You can find our music everywhere that matters. Stream us on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2F5991oNfIR8cjD63Nbak2

Laura:
Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?

Methane:
We want to thank every single person who’s supported us through the years. The underground support has been f**king insane, and we’re truly grateful for it.

Laura:
What’s coming up next for Methane?

Methane:
We just released our new single 360 Degrees of Destruction on July 3rd. Two more singles are dropping in August and September, and our new album Demolate comes out October 2nd. We’ve also got some killer tour dates lined up across Europe and possibly even crossing some oceans and continents soon. We’re keeping the details under wraps for now, but trust me, you’re gonna want to catch us live.
