Last week we picked up our cacao beans delivery from the sailing vessel Tres Hombres in Amsterdam.

We are so glad to be part of the slowly but surely shifting craft chocolate industry.

Aware of the harmful and irreversible damages of global transportation of goods, we only could decided to have our cocoa beans transported in a sustainable way.

We are grateful to FairTransport shipping, who made this wind-powered sustainable transport possible, and to Plantacion de Cacao del Eden, for the love and care for nature they always put in the growing and fermentation processes of the cacao beans.

Last week, our Betulia cacao beans by Cacao Betulia. have arrived in Fécamp (France) transported onboard the AVONTUUR sailboat (TIMBERCOAST) all the way from Santa Marta (Colombia).

GREEN FRIDAY

As every year at this time, the "civilized" world is entering in hysterical consumerism phase with the "Black Friday" as the top day!
We all have seen those videos of people queuing at the opening of the shops, and fighting to grab the best deals.
What a civilized world!
As every year for black Friday, Kakaoarbo will celebrate the "Green Friday" and will be closing the access to its webshop for the day (25th November) and we invite you to join the INTERNATIONAL DAY WITHOUT SHOPPING! We invite you to take a breath, go to the forest, see your friends, take the time to replenish your inner world, and forget about shopping!
Let's be conscious of our behavior and don't buy things just because they are on sale.
A small info for a conscious chocolate consumption: if we take the cacao beans produced in the world, and transform them ALL into 70% dark chocolate bars, and share it equally between all humans on Earth, we would have about 60g/person/month.

🍫We strongly believe that the bare minimum for a product to be ethical, both for the planet and its inhabitants, is to be vegan AND organic!

🌱Used to vegan fairs, we are sad to see how far from organic are so many vegan brands.

🌍 We are so glad to be part of the slowly but surely shifting of the chocolate industry. In full transition from the absolute social and ecological disaster of mass produced chocolate to a new era of sustainable small scale chocolate production. A few giant companies are ruling the world of cacao and chocolate production by buying almost all of the cocoa beans produced in the world and then selling cocoa mass and chocolate to almost all of the chocolatiers in the world! Bean-to-bar chocolate making is the only way to avoid this.
This would not be possible without the dedication of some farmers to focus on producing high quality cacao and sustainable farming practices.

✔️ We are very grateful for the hard work Cacao Betulia. is doing in order to provide us and other craft chocolate makers with such incredible cocoa beans. Each of the 3 varieties of cacao produced at Betulia Cacao has its unique touch, smell, and taste!

And thanks to Blue Schooner Company those amazing cocoa beans reached us onboard ⛵Gallant sailboat, driven by the only power of the wind all the way from Colombia to Europe.

🍫 This transition would also not be possible without the consumers who have the final responsibility of choosing where to get their chocolate from. A little tip for you: ask your chocolate producer if they can trace the cacao all the way to the farm, if yes, that is a good sign!

Leder du efter en luksus chokolade julekalender? Så er kalenderen fra Kakaoarbo måske noget for dig! Den indeholder 24 forskellige chokolader med alt fra hasselnødkaramel eller vildblåbær til chili eller masala chai 😊

Chokoladen kommer fra farme, der er økologiske og fairtrade verificeret. Bønnerne bliver transporteret fra Centralamerika til Danmark med sejlskib drevet frem af vind. Initiativet hedder "fair transport" og skal holde udledningen fra transporten så lav som muligt. Ved Gotland Chokoladefabrik bliver chokoladerne håndlavet og pakket i kalenderen 💚
