Located in the heart of the Illinois - Kentucky fluorspar district, the Hastie family has mined the Spar Mountain area since the late 1960's. The quarry is one of the recently bored mine found to be producing small amounts of Fluorite sporadically - living up to the Cave-In-Rock's finest quality.

Perfectly formed pieces are hard to get because dynamites were used during the mining operations. These three were closest to perfect I could get!

All specimens come with a glass display stand.

Not much information can be found regards to these Fluorite specimens from Santa Teresa Mountains, Aravaipa Mining District, Graham County, Arizona, USA. I happened to chance upon them when I was sourcing for the much famed Illinois fluorites!

A quick search would lead you to a few pages which describe Fluorite from this locality as dark purple formations mostly associated with Quartz. Here we have two specimens, one has a greenish core when backlit!

See you in a bit! 💜

Famous and iconic, these Fluorite specimens with its classic stepped-growth faces from the Tule Mine in Muzquiz are one of the most recognizable Fluorites from any Mexican locality.

Fluorites from this locality are dominantly cubic, often with multiple beautiful elongated stepped crystals resembling a cityscape. The colour ranges from pale violet to purple to dark black-purple where the darker colour reflecting higher volume of petroleum rich inclusions. Its colour zoning is often strong with the darkest zones near the surfaces of the crystals, highlighting the reticulated edges and prominent growth features that have made Fluorites from this mine famous.

Some of the most distinctive specimens from the El Tule are the ones associated with almost colourless Celestine from which the violet fluorite cubes will grow on and around.

These pieces have been around for decades, but in recent years they seem to have dried up in the market. Hand-picked these 6 pieces (I already kept one myself of course!) that are up for sale. They are from a fellow collector's stash and not mass supplied.

Treat yourself to one of them tonight! Purchase on webstore recommended for quickest confirmation! 💜✨

Adding a little rainbow to the cool-weather season as we near the end of the year! We’re back from a short, unplanned, hiatus with these iridescent, irregular botryoidal masses of a mixture of Hematite and Goethite, also known as Turgite, to brighten the gloomy skies the past week!

The gorgeous iridescence it exhibits is a definite eye-catcher (though sometimes may appear dull and lack-lustre) – created by a mixture of the two minerals due to the alteration of Goethite, which is typically found in botryoidal habit. Although there has been an on-going debate on whether Turgite is a mineral on its own, it still is a fascinating rock!

We’ve acquired these Turgite specimens from an individual who paid fees to mine at Graves Mountain, Georgia, a mecca for rockhounds for years. A few pieces of the specimens include Quartz as well as Kyanite blades that have pseudo-morphed to Goethite.

Stay tuned!!

These colourful pink-earthy tones patterned stones carved into points are Orbicular Rhyolite, often misunderstood as a jasper due to its trade name Leopard Skin Jasper. It is also sometimes known as Jaguar Stone because of its many beautiful colours and unique spotted patterns.

As many of you may have known, "jasper" is derived from a Greek word "jaspi", which means spotted stone; and because the stone's appearance look like Leopard spots, the trade name Leopard Skin Jasper hence grew on people who come across such gem.

A patterned and colourful Rhyolite ranging from pink, red, brown, cream, and inclusions of tan, black, grey, red, pink and brown, it is an extrusive igneous rock with extremely high silica content made up of quartz, plagioclase, sanidine and minor amount of hornblende and biotite. The distinct and desirable patterns is the result of the many variety of mineral inclusions.

This is an intriguing gemstone which captured my heart the moment I saw it 💌 doesn't it just lifts your mood without having to work its magic?!

Blue Tiger's Eye, also commonly known as Hawk's Eye, Falcon's Eye or Rodusite, has also been used throughout ancient cultures as a protective stone - like a talisman to ward off the "evil eye".

Blue Tiger's Eye is a variation to the Golden Tiger's Eye - notice golden brown stripes on them! The Tiger's Eys main colors are golds, yellows, and brown in striations throughout the rock, and those with stripes of blue are therefore named as Blue Tiger's Eye. In most cases, Hawk's Eye often refers to such stones that are mainly with only blue bandings.

Although a very calming and soothing stone that helps to dissipate intense emotions, it is also known for being a stone of good fortune and good luck! Work with the stone's energies to attract a stable flow of money both in your business and home, making it a favourable gemstone for entrepreneurs starting on a very new business.

Now up on !

These gemmy yellow fluorites deserve some limelight before getting sent to their new homes 💛

Yellow fluorites from the Lady Annabella Mine do not only possess the rarest of colours among all fluorite, but their daylight fluorescence and colour zoning characteristic are second to none! Gemmy fluorite cubes with sparkly quartz on matrix is such a delightful (and appetizing, right?!) sight to behold.

Although all the fluorites featured in this post have pretty similar reactions to natural daylight as they are found within The Bull Vein complex, they can be differentiate by their crystal habit as well. Learn more about them in our highlights!

In the middle of sweltering Sahara Desert, City of Taourirt in the Northern part of Morocco, these distinctive lavender fluorites with amazing silky lustre with glowing purple transparency are found through very short-lived mining operation. The difficulty in finding rich pockets, and low yield coupled with the inhospitality of the location forced the mining operations to halt in the early days when two men discovered it – making these fluorite specimens rare. Mining operations resumed in 2018 where the use of modern machinery can be involved.

These shades of purple will never fail to attract fluorite lovers or collectors! We all need a piece of such mesmerizing gradient of transparent to lilac to lavender in our stash, right!? It is not easy to find one with such pale, almost colourless shade!

One of the most highly regarded Fluorite specimens from China are those that come from Yao Gang Xian Mine, and it is no stranger to mineral collectors. Being among the most important deposit ever discovered for centuries, it will be so tough if we were to ask to choose which our favourite specimens from the famed mine are because even the fluorites can vary so much with outstanding features and combinations.

Yao Gang Xian Mine is extremely important as it produces more than 308 minerals (including the discovery of new and fine minerals). It is one of the oldest Tungsten mine in china with mining activities began as early as 1904 though it has formed since 157 to 170 million years ago! We can jolly well be holding on to a piece of history that is as old as the dinosaurs, or even older than that – amazing much!

Life has been uneasy amidst another Covid outbreak in our city and it is has been frustrating yet nothing is within our control. Hope these magical fluorites in calming hues will ease some stress off your minds!
