These colourful pink-earthy tones patterned stones carved into points are Orbicular Rhyolite, often misunderstood as a jasper due to its trade name Leopard Skin Jasper. It is also sometimes known as Jaguar Stone because of its many beautiful colours and unique spotted patterns.
As many of you may have known, "jasper" is derived from a Greek word "jaspi", which means spotted stone; and because the stone's appearance look like Leopard spots, the trade name Leopard Skin Jasper hence grew on people who come across such gem.
A patterned and colourful Rhyolite ranging from pink, red, brown, cream, and inclusions of tan, black, grey, red, pink and brown, it is an extrusive igneous rock with extremely high silica content made up of quartz, plagioclase, sanidine and minor amount of hornblende and biotite. The distinct and desirable patterns is the result of the many variety of mineral inclusions.
This is an intriguing gemstone which captured my heart the moment I saw it 💌 doesn't it just lifts your mood without having to work its magic?!
