Having lived in both places, l’ve realized we’re all romanticizing each other a little bit more than we should.”

He spends fashion week photographing the major shows in Milan, Paris and beyond, then goes home to Bangkok to disappear for a while. Daan Sachdev is a fashion photographer born and raised in Bangkok who moved to Milan and built a career from outside the shows to inside them.

He has shot for names including Gucci, Acne Studios, Paco Rabanne and Fendi, photographing everyone from Miuccia Prada to Anna Wintour. He is also a contributor to Vogue Thailand.

In this Open Talks edition, Naz Kişnişci sits down with Daan Sachdev over coffee at ROAST - Bangkok in Bangkok to talk about life behind the camera, what the industry still misreads about Southeast Asian fashion, moving through fashion month between Bangkok, Milan and Paris, and building a career while never fully belonging to one place.
