Hi Weng Cheu,
Just want to write this up for you. Since every time i train i use the guard and in turn, think of you ! hahaha!
Currently every time i step into the gym, I will reach for the performance guard (PG) and every time i am packing up (at the end of the training session) , I make sure the PG is secured safely in its box. The PG has become an essential piece of equipment in my plethora of gym gear.
If i happened to start training without using it, something feels off and the set will just do not feel right. I also end up biting my lower lip. With the PG intraorally, the set will feel more stable and I am able to brace myself and my core better. The end result is the set will be good and I will be less likely to injure myself. ie a better training session.
When my training gets better, my performance at competitions gets better as well.
In August 2014 , I achieved 215kg for my squat, 147.5 for bench and 215kg for my deadlift at Singapore Powerlifting Invitationals 2014.
Recently in Dec 2014 , I managed a personal best of 157.5kg for my bench press. This was at the Hong Kong Bench Press Invitationals - a strict International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) sanctioned competition. I improved by 10kg!
For both these competitions, I was using the PG throughout warm-up and the actual competitive attempts itself.
I believe the PG has been crucial for my improvements and in my training and competitions. I will continue to use the PG religiously in my training and upcoming meets. Hope it can withstand the pressure and training!
I have heard some lifters are also looking at mouth guards when they saw me using mine. I will refer them to you if they are really interested.
Hope you will find this account inspirational and motivational.
Have a good year ahead!
Cheers
Badrun
