Single bevel 8.3 inch blade for a chef who has fed me so many wonderful meals over the years. Carbon steel with a dymalux handle with linen micarta pins. My first single bevel knife, made at the chef's request.

Love shaping handles. Always looking for that confluence of form and function. Has to look beautiful but also work really well in the hand. Has to sit well in both a full handle grip and a pinch grip.
Very happy with how this one turned out. Beautiful engineered resin scales that feel so smooth when sanded and polished nicely.

Happy Chinese New Year.
Made a little paring knife / kiddie steak knife from some extra material in the workshop. Dyed antelope bone handle. Beautiful material but the scales I ordered were tiny. So wasn't going to be able to use them on one of my chef's knives. Also thought the kids would love this color. Which they did. 😊

Shiny. 😊Sharp too.

Had an interesting request recently. A customer had purchased a knife from a maker in China. M390 steel. I'm assuming he got what he thought was a great deal. Blade arrived without handle; unsharpened; grind lines very visible; and carburisation still visible on spine and handle. I'd normally never finish off someone else's blade but I felt sorry for the guy. Polished and sharpened the knife. Added a synthetic handle with white vulcanized fibre board liners and brass pins.
Good lesson to be learnt here. Order from knifemakers you know and whom you can communicate with. Don't just look for a good deal.

Heat treated last week but unfortunately I haven't been able to get time in the workshop this week. Hopefully next week I can polish babies and start putting handles on them.

I really like how the buffalo horn handles on this 9 inch blade turned out. Ordered several more sets in this brown and gold combo as well as the more traditional black and white.
Also had fun playing with the profile of this blade. It has a bit of a Bowie knife curve at the tip, as opposed to a more straight taper, which I thought would be interesting.
Hope chef is finding it a useful and comfortable knife. 😊

What size knife do you guys find most useful? While I love 8 and 9 inch knives, I find myself using a 7 inch blade very often when prepping for simple meals.
This one is off to a customer down under. 😊 Handle made with stabilised oak, resin and aluminum, with copper pins. High carbon steel as always.

Just delivered this little beauty. Seven inch high carbon steel blade. Handle made from scales by the always genius - Stabilised oak, resin and honeycomb aluminum. Ordered a few more scales in this "wagyu" color because people loved the combination so much. Copper pins.

Testing out buffalo horn handles for a recent multiple order. Wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the material before going ahead with the commission. Decided to make this 9 inch high carbon knife for a friend who is a super hard-working wizard chef and all-around nice guy. Buffalo horn handle with linen micarta pins. Very happy with the feel of the horn. Hope my buddy Drew enjoys using this.😁
