✨Arise – A Call to Action by Teressa Tay

After 12 years in the making, Teressa Tay has just published her autobiography! 🤗👍🏻☺️

“Encouraging, evocative and heartfelt” I recounted to Teressa as we chatted about her autobiography. In her usual equable manner, she responded, “I’m no accomplished writer. I used very simple English.”

It would be a mistake to interpret this as false modesty. The language used pales in comparison with the multitude of battles she has fought over the last 60 years. Still, between the simple words lies an element of searing rawness that stands apart from the typical well-polished autobiography.
Throughout the book, her authorial voice is heard loud and clear as she delves into a series of relatable, light-hearted and challenging conversations that took place within her as a young entrepreneur, a single mother and a cancer survivor.

Above all, one conversation has stood the test of time – her conversation with God. Through the late-night heart-to-hearts, unspoken cues and reflective pauses, she has come to realize that God is not one of destinations, but one of journeys.

As autobiographical as it sounds, there is something in this book for everyone. Teressa retains the singularity of her experiences while expounding on the universality of emotions that will strike a chord in all of us.

As the saying goes, the longest way around is the shortest way home. For Teressa, revisiting her past through words has proven to be a cathartic release. For us, perhaps we can experience a newfound sense of learning by living vicariously through Teressa’s stories.

It’s not often we find the missing puzzle piece that will lead to a picture-perfect happily-ever-after. But we can never be quite sure as to when we will stumble upon something that will give us the strength to keep on fitting the pieces together.

Super excited to share the first series of gifts The One Piece Shop will be launching in collaboration with our senior at life - Lily Chua.

At 76 years young, Lily has carved out a reputation for herself among her network - “the lady that never stops smiling”.

Growing up with a grandma like Lily entailed meeting a host of new characters everyday. Many different pairs of shoes entered our door but the only constant was the smile that they all had when they left our house.
