As the year comes to a close, we’re looking back at one of our highlights: celebrating this year’s @‌UNESCO–Al Fozan International Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists.

Hailing from China, Cyprus, Morocco, Namibia and Peru, the five 2025 laureates are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in —from empowering youth through coding and robotics to developing new tools for breast cancer risk prediction and advancing critical ocean and climate research.

Their work reflects the shared mission of UNESCO and the Abdullah Al Fozan Foundation for Education: to champion , strengthen international collaboration, and support young researchers—particularly in regions where sciences and technology ecosystems are still emerging.

Established in 2021, the Prize recognizes early-career innovators driving global progress and advancing the , while encouraging more women and girls to pursue scientific fields and shape a more equitable future.

Congratulations to this year’s laureates: Dr. Rosa Vásquez Espinoza, Dr. Kyriaki Michailidou, Dr. Lijing Cheng, Dr. Mounia Laassiri, and Ndaudika Mulundileni.
