The books have arrived!

"Where the Staghorn Ferns Once Grew: A Journey Through Thailand’s Changing Forests" is now available in print, and I’ve just received my first copies.

For this edition, I decided to use Amazon’s print-on-demand service, which makes the book available to readers in different countries without requiring me to ship internationally.

Holding the physical book has made me realize that the print specifications differ slightly from what I initially expected. Specifically, the interior pages are printed on thinner, uncoated paper, which gives them a different look compared to my previous books. However, I want to assure you that the photographs and content remain exactly as I intended.

This has been an interesting part of the publishing process, and I’m sharing it because I think readers may appreciate knowing a little more about how the physical book is produced.

I’m very happy to finally hold this book in my hands, after all the writing, editing, photography, and preparation that went into it.

Sometimes, nature teaches us through beautiful accidents. 🍃✨
Months ago, I found a few Cryptanthus plants that I’d neglected. In a rush to save them, I tucked them into a pond filled with Salvinia cucullata, just to keep the roots hydrated. Who would ever think of growing Cryptanthus in water, right? 😂

The result completely blew me away! Months later, they didn't rot. Instead, they are thriving and looking way healthier than they ever did in pots.

Managing Patra Garden for over 20 years, nature never ceases to surprise me. Delicate ferns turn out to be incredibly resilient, and terrestrial plants adapt to find their own way to survive in water. Life always finds a way... we just need to listen and learn. 💚
บางครั้ง... ธรรมชาติก็สอนเราผ่านความบังเอิญ 🌿✨
หลายเดือนก่อน เจอ Cryptanthus 3-4 ต้นแห้งเหี่ยวเพราะดูแลไม่ทั่วถึง เลยจับปักลงบ่อจอกหูหนูแน่นๆ กะช่วยต่อชีวิตให้รากชั่วคราว คงไม่มีใครคิดจะปลูกสับปะรดสีในน้ำใช่ไหมคะ 😂

แต่ผลลัพธ์กลับเกินคาด! ผ่านมาหลายเดือน นอกจากไม่เน่าแล้ว พวกนางยังเติบโตแข็งแรง สวยกว่าตอนอยู่ในกระถางเสียอีก

เราดูแล Patra Garden มากว่า 20 ปี ธรรมชาติยังมีเรื่องให้เซอร์ไพรส์เสมอ เฟินบางชนิดที่คิดว่าบอบบางกลับอึดทน หรือพืชที่ควรอยู่บนดินก็ปรับตัวในน้ำได้เอง ต้นไม้มีหนทางเติบโตของเขาเสมอ... แค่เราเปิดใจเรียนรู้ไปพร้อมกัน 💚

ตั้งแต่สร้างโรงเรือนแห่งนี้มายี่สิบกว่าปี นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่เรารื้อเปลี่ยนซาแรนพรางแสงเอง โดยช่วยกันทำกับลูกชาย ผลงานเสร็จเรียบร้อยเป็นที่น่าพอใจมาก แทบไม่ต่างกับที่จ้างช่างทำเลย!
For the first time in over 20 years since building this greenhouse, my son and I tackled replacing the shade net ourselves. Super proud of how it turned out 😍 looks just as good as a professional job!
