An exploration of a cave in Kanchanaburi Province.
Inside the cave were five large chambers. The number of living creatures in this place was quite limited, but that does not mean life was absent.
After trekking more than 5 kilometers from the cave entrance to the innermost chamber, where the relative humidity reached around 90% and where the only water source was located, we discovered the isopod Cubaris sp. Mangosteen. Their only available food sources in this environment were bat guano, the remains of dead cave insects, and even members of their own species.
Tourism renovation and construction projects are indirectly threatening their survival.

Armadillidae gen. sp. “Ra Young”, also humorously nicknamed “Little Monk” by some Thai (pseudo) researchers, though the connection is unclear. Therefore, I prefer to refer to it by the province name, which seems more appropriate.
It was discovered in Rayong Province (eastern Thailand, near coastal areas).

The habitat is a high mountainous area with a relative humidity of around 50–60%.
Daytime temperatures range from 35–42°C, while nighttime temperatures are about 25–30°C.

Cubaris sp. Ice Flower
An isopod species from Thailand, native to tropical regions.
It prefers to live on the surface layer of soil and in decaying wood cavities. In the wild, its diet consists of leaf litter, decomposing leaves, wood, and other organic plant matter that has already undergone decomposition.
Optimal temperature: 25–35°C

Armadillidae gen. sp., Chiang Rai
As this is a newly surveyed finding, the exact species has not yet been confirmed. Only 1–2 individuals were found near the cave entrance, not very deep inside.
